Trailer for '50/50' cancer comedy debuts

Jonathan Levine's new comedy "50/50" looks pretty intriguing, as you can see for yourself in the trailer after the jump. The film, about a young man who learns he has cancer, stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anjelica Huston.

Will Reiser, who battled cancer himself, penned the script, and early reviews from people who have seen the film indicate it's quite an honest and touching little film. I'm looking forward to it very much myself. Like I said, check out the trailer below. Doesn't this look quite promising?

Jonathan Levine to direct 'Little Girl Lost'?

Jonathan Levine, who directed the awesome indie "The Wackness," is in talks to helm Universal's big-screen adaptation of "Little Girl Lost," a novel by Richard Aleas. Michael Bacall will write the script.

Heat Vision says the story follows a private detective who discovers his former high-school girlfriend is now a dead stripper. As a result, he launches his own investigation to find the person responsible.

Aside from "The Wackness," Levine also helmed "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane," and the upcoming "Live with It," a cancer comedy starring Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anna Kendrick.

Daily news dose: Ice Cube gears up for 'Ride Along;' Robinson to direct Miley Cyrus flick

Here's your dose of film news for March 31, 2009:

• Ice Cube has signed on to star in New Line Cinema's comedy "Ride Along." Variety says Cube will play an overprotective cop who tries to destroy his sister's relationship by inviting her white fiancé on a ride-along. Steve Faber and Bob Fisher recently rewrote an original script by Greg Coolidge. Cube was last seen in "The Longshots."

• Julie Anne Robinson will make her directorial feature debut with "The Last Song," the big-screen adaptation of a novel Nicholas Sparks wrote specifically for "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus. According to Variety, the film follows a "rebellious teenager sent to spend the summer with her estranged father."

• Jonathan Levine, director of "The Wackness" (a film I adored), is set to helm Fox Atomic's "The Sitter." Written by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka, the film centers on a suspended college student whose life takes a drastic turn when he ends up babystitting his neighbor's eccentric kids. • Paul Bettany is in talks to star in Scott Stewart's "Priest," a horror Western produced by Michael De Luca, among others. Adapted from a comic book, the flick centers on a tough priest who turns his back on the church to free his niece from the hands of a bunch of ruthless vampires. (THR)
