Jack Black to topline ‘Bourne’-style comedy
Jack Black is all ready to develop an action spy comedy with “Kung Fu Panda” screenwriters Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger for Universal, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The untitled project is described as a comedic “The Bourne Identity,” in which Black plays an American who wakes up in Cuba with no knowledge of who he is or how he got there. He quickly concludes he must be a superspy.
Black’s previous work with Aibel and Berger paid off, because “Kung Fu Panda” grossed more than $626 million worldwide.
"For our next live-action project, we knew we wanted to work with either a panda or Jack,” Aibel told THR.
Aibel and Berger are currently working on DreamWorks Animation’s “Monsters vs. Aliens.” As for Black, he recently starred in Ben Stiller’s “Tropic Thunder.” He also just signed on to voice Po the panda in the sequel to “Kung Fu Panda.”
