'Jackass 3D' is king of Friday box office

Bam Margera screams like a girl

WOW! Johnny Knoxville and the crazy "Jackass" boys are blowing up the North American box office now that "Jackass 3D" debuted at the No. 1 spot with a stunning $21.8 million in ticket sales Friday.

The 3D film directed by Jeff Tremaine scored an average of $7,076 per theater at 3,081 locations, which is almost double the amount "Jackass: Number Two" pulled in when it debuted back in 2006.+

Following far behind at No. 2 was "RED," Summit's action comedy starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Mary-Louise Parker and Morgan Freeman. "RED" bagged $7.2 million from ticket sales at 3,255 locations.

Movie Review: "Jackass 3D"

Seen on: October 15, 2010

The players: Director: Jeff Tremaine, Writer: Preston Lacy, Cast: Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn

Facts of interest: Rumor has it this could be the last "Jackass" movie.

The plot: Knoxville and his band of crazy buddies are back doing silly stunts and stupid jokes to entertain their fans.

Our thoughts: Johnny Knoxville and his gang of dauntless idiots are back in action on the big-screen with “Jackass 3D,” and no, I’m definitely not ashamed to say I had a blast watching those fools do what they do best in this third installment of the series.

Not every stunt in the film provokes huge laughs, but all in all, “Jackass 3D” manages to provide excellent entertainment for those not minding the fascinating stupidity of Knoxville and Co.

This week's new movie releases - Oct. 15, 2010

Opening this week in North American theaters are "Jackass 3D" with Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O and Bam Margera; and "Red," which stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich.

Jackass 3D: What can I say? I enjoyed the two previous "Jackass" flicks, and I'm definitely looking forward to watching Johnny Knoxville do the one thing he's really good at. Plus, the whole 3D effect will certainly add to the fun of the movie as well. My excitement rating: 7/10.

Red: No matter how ridiculous this film turns out to be, it boasts quite the awesome cast, and that's exactly what I'm excited about in "Red." That, and all the crazy action sequences along with a potentially solid dose of humor. Looks good for sure. My excitement rating: 7/10.

Funny new clip from 'Jackass 3D'

The "Jackass" crew returns to theaters Oct. 15 with "Jackass 3-D," and MTV premiered a new clip form the upcoming sequel at the VMAs. You can watch it via the embed right after the jump. It's funny.

I admit I occasionally laugh at some of the stupidity in these films, but that's it. Jeff Tremaine directed "Jackass 3-D," and Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn and Preston Lacy co-star.

So yeah, there is not much else to say about this. It looks like some stunts were created specifically to enhance the 3D effect, and this is something you either like or hate to watch. Who's excited?

It had to happen. We all knew it would eventually. Johnny Knoxville and the gang are back in action, and this time, they're going 3D with "Jackass 3-D," the latest in the series of the popular "Jackass" flicks.

So yeah, there is not much to say about this. It looks like some stunts were created specifically to enhance the 3D effect, and this is something you either like or hate to watch. The film opens Oct. 15, 2010.

Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville up for 'Invention'

Craig Robinson, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville and Camilla Belle are joining Kevin Spacey in Trent Cooper's upcoming comedy "Father of Invention."

The Hollywood Reporter says Cooper and Krane and Nichole Beatty wrote the script, which follows a stinking rich inventor (Spacey) who goes to jail after one of his creations goes wrong. Once he's released, he runs into several struggles making up time with his family.

The trade reports Robinson plays the husband of the inventor's ex-wife. Belle is on-board as his daughter, and Graham will star as her lesbian roommate. Knoxville will play a store manager who hires Spacey after his prison time.

Craig Robinson's credits include "Pineapple Express," "The Office" and "Zack and Miri Make a Porno." Belle last starred in "Push," while Knoxville was last seen in "The Ringer." Graham is currently onscreen in "The Hangover."

Johnny Knoxville, Cher team up for 'Drop-Out'

I know it sounds like an odd pair, but Johnny Knoxville and Cher are in talks to star in Ricky Blitt's comedy "The Drop-Out."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film "tracks the fortunes of a 35-year-old career college student (Knoxville) who is finally kicked out of his parents' house.

Desperate, he decides to get in good with the 62-year-old woman next door (Cher), so he can keep his food, couch and TV regimen intact. In the mix is the woman's ne'er-do-well son, who is looking for a father figure, even if it's a guy his own age."

"The Drop-Out" marks Blitt's directorial debut. He also wrote 2005's comedy "The Ringer," which also starred Knoxville.

Knoxville is currently producing MTV's new show "Nitro Circus." As for Cher, she was last seen in Bobby and Peter Farrelly's "Stuck On You."

Knoxville and Cher together in one film... can you believe it?
