The folks at The Bad and Ugly got a hold of some set photos of Orlando Bloom. The film he's currently shooting is "Main Street," John Doyle's film from a script by the late Horton Foote, whose credits also include "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Of Mice and Men." The film follows a group of a small North Carolina town residents whose lives are turned upside down with the arrival of a stranger.

Orlando Bloom moves to 'Main Street'

Orlando Bloom is in talks to join Andrew McCarthy, Ellen Burstyn, Patricia Clarkson and Colin Firth in John Doyle's upcoming drama "Main Street."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film follows a group of a small North Carolina town residents whose lives are turned upside down with the arrival of a stranger. Bloom is set to play a police officer.

Doyle is directing a script by the late Horton Foote, whose credits also include "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Of Mice and Men."

Bloom, who last starred in "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," will soon be seen in "New York, I Love You" and "Sympathy for Delicious."

McCarthy recently appeared on "Lipstick Jungle," while Burstyn last starred in "W." Clarkson's recent credits include "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" and "Elegy." As for Firth, was was recently seen in "Mamma Mia!"

Daily news dose: Schnabel to co-write 'Coma,' Padilha to helm Ludlum thriller

Here's your dose of quick news bits for Jan. 29, 2008...

• Marco Schnabel and Larry Stuckey will write "Girlfriend in a Coma" for Fox Atomic. The film is described as a satirical high school comedy about an unlikely romance. Schnabel most recently directed the awful "The Love Guru." Stuckey is currently writing "Little Fockers." (The Hollywood Reporter)

• John Doyle is set to direct Horton Foote's "Main Street," an ensemble drama about "a diverse group of residents of a small, economically moribund American city facing the consequences of change." Doyle is a British theater director. (Variety)

• Jose Padilha is in talks to direct Universal's thriller "The Sigma Protocol," which is based on Robert Ludlum's novel. According to the Hollywood Reporter, "the movie will update the novel, use the current economic climate and make the protagonist a Wall Street type who specializes in the economy of catastrophic events, known as 'black swan events.'"

• Charles Dance, who helmed "Ladies in Lavender," is set to direct his adaptation of Alice Thomas-Ellis' novel "The Inn at the Edge of the World." The story follows a bunch of people who desire to escape the Christmas spirit and head to a remote island. (The Hollywood Reporter)
