Facts of interest: None, really.

The plot: As the world comes to an end in the year 2012, a group of brave people try to survive the cataclysms surrounding them. 

Our thoughts: Roland Emmerich’s latest apocalyptic big-screen spectacle works best as a comedy. The film boasts a number of excellent laughs, and that’s the main reason I found it moderately enjoyable. Other than that, it’s nothing more than yet another utterly ridiculous, overblown sci-fi action piece about the end of the world.

Opening this week are Roland Emmerich's new apocalyptic action flick "2012" with John Cusack; and Richard Curtis' comedy "Pirate Radio" with Bill Nighy, Nick Frost and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

A brand-new clip from Roland Emmerich's upcoming apocalyptic action spectacle "2012" has debuted online, and it features John Cusack and Woody Harrelson sharing a little chat. Check it out after the jump.

The film focuses on a little group of people struggling with the large-scale cataclysm ensuing from the end of the world in 2012. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Amanda Peet co-star.

No, you won't get to see any big action or destruction in this short clip, but you get a funny Woody Harrelson telling and showing Cusack's character he knows the big apocalypse is coming for sure.

As you may already know, Roland Emmerich has another apocalyptic action flick coming out Nov. 13, 2009, and this time, the world comes to an end in 2012. Three new posters for Emmerich's '2012'

Roland Emmerich is putting an end to the world yet again in "2012," his latest apocalyptic action spectacle that we'll get to see in theaters Nov. 13, 2009. Just yesterday we got a look at a new Japanese trailer with plenty of new footage from the film, and today, I've found three new posters via Yahoo!

As you can see after the jump, they show an awful amount of destruction. Bye bye Los Angeles, bye bye White House and see ya Rio de Janeiro. As usual, keep in mind that fancy posters and spectacular trailers don't mean we're in for a fantastic Emmerich film. His couple of previous ones kind of sucked.

A couple of months ago, we saw the first full trailer for Roland Emmerich's next action spectacle "2012," and that preview contained quite a few shots of the world coming to end in 2012. Now a new Japanese trailer has hit the Web, and if you choose to watch it below, you'll get to see a whole lot of new footage and more destruction.

Jump in: 'Hot Tub Time Machine' gets red trailer

Here's the first red band teaser for Steve Pink's upcoming comedy "Hot Tub Time Machine," which stars John Cusack and is set for release Feb. 26, 2010.

The film follows a group of adults who jump into a hot tub and are transported back in time, to when they were much younger. Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Chevy Chase co-star.

Judging solely by this teaser, "Hot tub" looks rather crappy. Sure, Robinson delivers one or two of his usual, vulgar lines, but apart from that, this one's darn lame.

Pink also directed 2006's comedy "Accepted," which I failed to enjoy as well. I can only hope this hot tub thing will turn out better than this preview makes it out to be.

The world destroyed (again) in new 2012 trailer!

Roland Emmerich is back destroying everything on the face of the Earth in "2012," his latest apocalyptic adventure that will hit theaters Nov. 13, 2009.

A brand-new trailer for the action flick has just debuted online, and you can check it out below. Judging by this footage, chances are we'll see more destruction than ever before in an Emmerich flick.

The film focuses on a little group of people struggling with the large-scale cataclysm ensuing from the end of the world in 2012. John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Danny Glover and Amanda Peet star.

Trailers for Emmerich flicks always look epic and neat, and this one is certainly no exception. Okay, Cusack driving a car out a moving plane is a tad too insane for my taste, but then again, is there ever anything realistic in his films in the first place?

Roland Emmerich's '2012' pushed back

Sony Pictures has pushed back the release of Roland Emmerich's new disaster movie "2012" to Nov. 13, 2009.

The film was originally scheduled to open July 10, but some folks at Sony felt the flick would have a greater shot at making big bucks later this year.

Variety has this to say about the release date change:

"Sony prexy of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer said the studio has a very strong summer slate-- including tentpole 'Angels and Demons' (May 15) and Denzel Washington-John Travolta actioner 'The Taking of Pelham One Two Three' (June 12) -- and that it made sense to move '2012' to November."

Okay, fair enough. It will be interesting to see how many studios will respond to this release change and move around films of their own. July is usually a strong summer month, so I'm sure someone will take advantage of this very soon.
