Look at new 'John Carter' trailer

The folks at Good Morning America sat down with Taylor Kitsch today to chat about his upcoming action adventure "John Carter," which opens March 9, 2012. The full trailer will go live late tonight, but for a oretty good look at it, check out the GMA piece below.

In the film, Kitsch ("Friday Night Lights") plays a Civil War vet transplanted to Mars who discovers a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter a princess who is in desperate need of a savior.

If you want to get straight to the trailer, skip to 1:01 in the video after the jump. Definitely looks CGI infested, as expected, but it could be an enjoyable ride. As long as it beats the silliness of "Prince of Persia," I'm game. Andrew Stanton helmed "John Carter."

New photo from 'John Carter' arrives

The release of Andrew Stanton's anticipated action fantasy "John Carter" is slowly approaching (we'll still have to wait until March 2012 though), and ET has scored a brand-new image from the movie that stars "Friday Night Lights" alumnus Taylor Kitsch.

Yes, Tim Riggins is back as a Civil War vet transplanted to Mars who discovers a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter a princess who is in desperate need of a savior.

The photo above features one of the beats, and it doesn't look too shabby. According to the director, this is "a formidable creature that you kind of hear about throughout the movie, but you never really witness." Stanton also helmed "WALL-E" and "Finding Nemo."

Teaser trailer for Disney's 'John Carter'

Andrew Stanton's Disney flick "John Carter" is set for release in theaters March 9, 2012, and the first trailer for the sci-fi adventure is now online. Check it out after the jump; it does look pretty compelling. Taylor Kitsch stars as the film's lead character JC.

Here's what's in store for us: Civil War vet John Carter is transplanted to Mars, where he discovers a lush, wildly diverse planet whose main inhabitants are 12-foot tall green barbarians. He finds himself a prisoner of these creatures, and decides to escape.

From there, things spin out of control and he meets a princess in need of his help. Lynn Collins, Mark Strong and Willem Dafoe co-star. "John Carter" looks solid for now, but please, please, please let this not turn into another "Prince of Persia." Seriously, please...

Danielle Panabaker books 'The Ward'

Danielle Panabaker books The Ward

Danielle Panabaker is ready to check into John Carpenter's "The Ward" for Echo Lake Entertainment, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Amber Heard ("Remember the Daze") is on-board as a patient on a psychiatric ward who is terrorized by a mysterious appearance. Panabaker plays a snobbish patient who faces electroshock therapy.

Also starring in the psychological thriller is Mamie Gummer, whose credits include "Taking Woodstock," "Stop-Loss" and "The Hoax."

Carpenter hasn't directed anything major since 2001's "Ghosts of Mars." He's currently gearing up to helm "Riot" with Nicholas Cage in the lead role.

As for Panabaker, she was last seen in the "Friday the 13th" remake. Other credits include "Shark," "Mr. Brooks" and the upcoming "The Crazies" remake.
