Hottie Amber Heard moves to 'Motor City'

Amber Heard, who looks ridiculously good in pretty much any flick she's in, moves to "Motor City." The actress from Texas has scored the female lead in the revenge movie, this according to Mike Fleming. I generally don't mind Amber Heard casting news at all, so thanks Mike.

Anyway, "Motor City" will star Dominic Cooper ("Captain America: The First Avenger") as a man who is released from prison and decides the best thing to do first is to hunt down everyone who framed him. Chad St. John wrote the script, and Albert Hughes ("the Book of Eli," "From Hell") is on board to direct.

Heard's most recent onscreen role was in "The Rum Diary." She also looked sharp and kicked some serious ass in "Drive Angry," and other credits include "The Ward," "The Joneses," "Pineapple Express" (I'm still drooling) and the shitty "Remember the Daze." In case you didn't already notice, I am a fan...

Straczynski to write ‘Forbidden Planet’ remake

Screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski is set to write the remake of Fred Wilcox’s 1956 sci-fi classic “Forbidden Planet” for Warner Bros.

The Hollywood Reporter says Warner acquired the project from DreamWorks, where David Twohy was attached to direct.

In the original, a space crew from Earth is sent to a distant planet to check up on a colony of scientists. Shortly after their arrival, they find a scientist and his daughter who survived a cruel monster roaming the planet.

Straczynski, who most recently penned Clint Eastwood’s drama “Changeling,” is no stranger to the sci-fi genre. He co-created “Babylon 5” and wrote many of the show’s episodes. His credits also include “Crusade” and several episodes of “The Twilight Zone.”

Straczynski also co-wrote James McTeigue’s upcoming action flick “Ninja Assassin,” which Joel Silver is producing. Silver is also on board to develop the “Forbidden Planet” update.
