Ben Mendelsohn joins 'Trespass'

Ben Mendelsohn, Dash Mihok and Liana Liberato are the latest to join Joel Schumacher's action flick "Trespass," which Variety says kicks off shooting next week. Cam Gigandet and Jordana Spiro co-star.

The story follows a married couple taken hostage by ruthless criminals. Complications ensue amid the unexpected discovery of betrayal and deception. Karl Gajdusek and Eli Richbourg wrote the script.

Irwin Winkler and David Winkler are producing the film. Mendelsohn can be seen in "Animal Kingdom," while Mihok starred in "Punisher: War Zone." Liberato appeared on "Sons of Anarchy."

Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman team for 'Trespass'

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman will team up on the big screen for Joel Schumacher's next action flick "Trespass." Karl Gajdusek and Eli Richbourg penned the script. Irwin Winkler is producing.

The story follows a married couple taken hostage by ruthless criminals. As Variety adds, "Complications ensue amid the unexpected discovery of betrayal and deception." Intrigued? I'm halfway there...

Cage's next flick is "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," while Kidman's got "Just Go with It" and "The Danish Girl" lined up. Schumacher last directed "The Number 23," "Town Creek" and the upcoming "Twelve."

50 Cent, Kiefer Sutherland to star in 'Twelve'

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Ellen Barkin, Kiefer Sutherland, Chace Crawford, Emma Roberts and Rory Culkin have signed on to star in Joel Schumacher's "Twelve."

Based on the novel by Nick McDonell, the film centers on a former high schooler and drug dealer whose life takes a drastic turn after his best friend is arrested for murdering the dealer's cousin. Jordan Melamed wrote the screenplay.

Schumacher most recently directed "The Number 23," which I admit I pretty much hated. His credits also include "The Phantom of the Opera," "Veronica Guerin" and "Bad Company."

Jackson last starred in "Righteous Kill," and he's got plenty of future projects lined up. Roberts was recently seen in "Hotel for Dogs," while Barkin last appeared in "Ocean's Thirteen." As for Crawford, he's been busy doing "Gossip Girl."

Culkin's credits include "Signs" and "Mean Creek," and Sutherland is still running around as Jack Bauer. He also voiced a character in "Monsters vs. Aliens."

Schumacher's 'Saints' gets rewrite

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are rewriting Paramount's crime drama "Inland Saints," which Joel Schumacher will direct.

Variety says the original project by Kurt Sutter focused on a street gang leader who falls for the daughter of a detective hired to bring down the criminals.

According to the trade, screenwriters Shannon and Swift are now revamping the film, turning it into an action horror flick set in a small town ruled by gangs. Further details remain unknown at this point.

Quite a different approach indeed!

Shannon and Swift's credits include 2003's "Freddy vs. Jason." They also recently wrote the script for Marcus Nispel's "Friday the 13th" remake.
