Boom! Three-minute 'Expendables' trailer lands!

Sylvester Stallone is blowing up shit in his upcoming action spectacle "The Expendables," and a new three-minute trailer has landed on the Web. Check it out after the jump... it looks kind of amateurish.

Yes, it's full of explosions, shootings and terribly bad jokes, and while that can be an amusing combination here and there, it just doesn't work for me in this preview. I hope the film itself has a little more to offer.

Anyway, the movie follows a group of tough mercenaries who infiltrate a South American country to overthrow its dictator and free its population. Sly himself, Jet Li, Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke star.

Stallone, Statham go to war in ‘Expendables’

Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li are teaming up as a bunch of mercenaries in “The Expendables.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the three men take on the mission to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its dictator to free the population.

Stallone is directing his own script. The action star most recently helmed the fourth installment in the “Rambo” series.

We don’t know much more about the project at this stage, but it’s quite easy to predict what we’re up against: a bloody brutal action thriller with a brainless story and non-stop gunfights.

Statham will next be seen in “Transporter 3,” followed by “Crank 2: High Voltage.” As for Li, he most recently starred in “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”

And as you may have heard already, Stallone is also working on “Rambo V.”

Review: "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor"

Seen on: August 2, 2008

The players: Director: Rob Cohen, Writers: Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, Cast: Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Maria Bello, Michelle Yeoh, John Hannah, Luke Ford

Facts of interest: Third installment in the franchise that took off in 1999.

The plot: Rick and Evelyn O’Connell are pulled out of retired boredom and back into action when their son Alex, now a young explorer, is tricked into awakening the ruthless Dragon Emperor.

Our quick thoughts: With “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” director Rob Cohen picks up the franchise that was made popular by Stephen Sommers and gives it a whole new look, not only by attributing his different directing style to it, but also by taking the story to China, where the O’Connells have to face a new kind of mummy.

Extended clip from “Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ hits

Do you have “The Mummy” fever? Considering this is already the third flick in the series, I have to admit I’m not particularly excited about Rob Cohen’s “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” which opens everywhere tomorrow. Sure, the action scenes and visuals look stunning, but what about the story?

In case you haven’t made up your mind whether to see it, here’s an extended clip that recently premiered over at Yahoo! Movies. Be warned though, it’s not the most exciting one. “Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” stars Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Maria Bello and Michelle Yeoh.
