Movie Review: "The Switch"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: August 20, 2010

The players: Directors: Josh Gordon, Will Speck, Writer: Allan Loeb, Cast: Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, Jeff Goldblum, Juliette Lewis

Facts of interest: Gordon and Speck also helmed "Blades of Glory."

The plot: After Kassie announces she wants a baby, her best friend Wally accidentally spills her donor's sperm and replaces it with his own.

Our thoughts: Will Speck and Josh Gordon’s “The Switch” has a lot going for it, but in terms of story, it definitely falls a little short. I admit I walked into this film expecting a different kind of romantic comedy, but what I eventually got for my time and money was a rather superficial movie about two best friends who just don’t have what it takes to tell each other what they really feel.

Jennifer Aniston in 'The Switch' trailer

"Blades of Glory" helmers Josh Gordon and Will Speck have a new comedy coming out soon, and it's titled "The Switch" (formerly "The Baster"). A new trailer for the film starring Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston has debuted online, and you can give it a look after the jump. It looks kind of funny, and maybe even a tad charming. It also boasts an interesting cast. Jeff Goldblum and Patrick Wilson co-star. Release date is set for Aug. 20, 2010.

Diane Keaton, Jeff Goldblum seek 'Morning Glory'

This is getting interesting! Diane Keaton and Jeff Goldblum have officially joined Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams in Paramount Pictures' comedy "Morning Glory."

McAdams will star as a TV news producer who struggles to rescue a morning show by taking control of its difficult anchors (Ford and Keaton). According to Variety, Goldblum is set to play McAdams' boss.

J.J. Abrams will produce the project, while Roger Michell is on board to direct. Michell most recently directed the splendid "Venus," and his credits also include "Enduring Love" and "Notting Hill." Aline Brosh McKenna, whose credits include "The Devil Wears Prada," wrote the script.

Keaton was last seen in the disappointing comedy "Mad Money." Goldblum recently starred in "Adam Resurrected." He's filming "The Baster" right now. I only hope Ford and Keaton will be as solid a fighting team as Keaton and Jack Nicholson in "Something's Gotta Give."

Goldblum's recent big-screen credits include "Adam Resurrected" and "Man of the Year."
