New 'Despicable Me' trailer disappoints

Despicable Me

A brand-new teaser trailer for Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin's upcoming 3D-animated family flick "Despicable Me" has popped up on the Web, and you can take a look at it right after the jump.

Steve Carell voices Gru, an evil man who plans to steal the moon. While his evil mother encourages him to execute his plan, Gru runs into trouble when he unexpectedly encounters three orphan girls.

This special preview focuses on Gru's rivarly with Vector, another villain. Sadly, I'm not at all impressed with this footage. I did enjoy the first teaser trailer, but this one seriously disappoints.

Jason Segel going for 'Adventurer's Handbook'

Jason Segel in I Love You Man

Funny guy Jason Segel is in talks to join Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman in Universal Pictures' upcoming comedy "The Adventurer's Handbook."

In the film, four friends bored to death embark on an adventure inspired by the stories and characters in Mick Conefrey's book "The Adventurer's Handbook: Life Lessons From History's Great Explorers."

Hill wrote the script with Matt Spicer and Max Winkler, and Akiva Schaffer ("Hot Rod") is directing "Handbook." The Hollywood Reporter says production should kick off next year.

Segel, by the way, would play a musician who spends his time as a backup piano player and alcoholic. Hill is an isolated engineer, with Schwartzman set to play a Grammy winner.

Watch: 'Despicable Me' gets a funny first trailer

The first trailer for Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin's upcoming 3D-animated family flick "Despicable Me" has debuted online, and you can watch it after the jump.

Steve Carell voices Groo (or Gru), an evil man who plans to steal the moon. While his evil mother encourages him to execute his plan, Groo runs into trouble when he unexpectedly encounters three orphan girls.

The trailer below is more of a whole scene, in which we get a first glimpse at what Groo is up to. It looks funny, and I admit it got me to laugh a couple of times. At this stage, I'm quite excited about this one.

Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, the team behind "Horton Hears a Who!," wrote the script. Jason Segel, Kristen Wiig, Will Arnett, Danny McBride, Russell Brand, Jemaine Clement, Jack McBrayer and Julie Andrews are also part of the voice cast.

New 'Gulliver's Travels' set photos debut

The folks at ComingSoon debuted a bunch of set pics from Rob Letterman's updated version of “Gulliver’s Travels" for 20th Century Fox. Check out some stills on this page, and the rest of them right here. The story, of course, is a famous one: a writer named Lemuel Gulliver (Jack Black) travels to Bermuda for an assignment and discovers a hidden island with tiny inhabitants.

Billy Connolly, James Gorden, Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Chris O'Dowd and Catherine Tate co-star, and you'll see them in some of these set pics. Letterman also co-directed "Monsters vs. Aliens." "Gulliver's Travels" is currently set for release June 4, 2010.

Movie Review: “I Love You, Man”

Seen on: March 22, 2009

The players: Director: John Hamburg, Writers: Larry Levin, John Hamburg, Cast: Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Rashida Jones, Sarah Burns, Jaime Pressly

Facts of interest: Rudd also starred in "Role Models," while Segel recently starred in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."

The plot: Rudd stars as a recently engaged man who has no guy friends and heads out to look for the perfect best man.

Our thoughts: In John Hamburg’s buddy comedy “I Love You, Man,” Paul Rudd plays Peter Klaven, a recently engaged real estate agent with a big problem: he really needs a best man, but much to his chagrin, he has absolutely no guy friends. Only solution: go on a series of ‘man-dates’ to find the perfect best buddy.

Blunt, Segal to join Black 'Gulliver's Travels'

Emily Blunt and Jason Segel are in talks to join Jack Black in Rob Letterman’s updated version of “Gulliver’s Travels" for 20th Century Fox.

The story is a famous one: a writer named Lemuel Gulliver (Black) travels to Bermuda for an assignment and discovers a hidden island with tiny inhabitants.

According to Variety, Blunt would star as a Lilliputian princess and Gulliver's love interest. Segel will play Horatio, the main character's best friend who helps him escape from Liliput.

If Blunt decided to join this project, her possible involvement in "Iron Man 2" may be in jeopardy. As you may recall, Blunt was recently offered the role of Soviet spy Natasha Romanoff in Jon Favreau's sequel.

If she took on that role as well, her schedule may pose a problem because "Gulliver" is set for a March shoot and "Iron Man 2" will head into principal photography in early April, according to the trade.

Nicholas Stoller, director of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall, wrote the script for "Gulliver's Travels" with Joe Stillman.

Segel will next be seen alongside Paul Rudd in "I Love You, Man." Blunt will soon be seen alongside Amy Adams in "Sunshine Cleaning."
