Jake Gyllenhaal deciphers 'Source Code'

Oscar-nominated "Brokeback Mountain" star Jake Gyllenhaal is almost set to star in Duncan Jones' new sci-fi thriller "Source Code," which Summit Entertainment will bring to theaters.

Variety says the film will focus on a soldier who wakes up in the body of a commuter and relives a train bombing until he figures out who's behind the attack. Sounds a bit like "Deja Vu" to me.

Carrey, Gyllenhaal to star in 'Yankees' musical

New Line Cinema is developing a modern big-screen version of the musical "Damn Yankees," and Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal are attached to star in the film.

According to Variety, Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel will write the script for the project based on the 1955 Broadway musical, which ended up winning seven Tony Awards.

The story follows Joe Boyd, a happy middle-aged man who makes a deal with the devil to help out an unlucky pro baseball team.

The deal enables Boyd to be transformed into a slugger, but in exchange he must give the devil his soul. The trade says Carrey would play the devil, while Gyllenhaal would star as Boyd.

"Damn Yankees" first made it to the big screen in 1958 in a version directed by George Abbott and Stanley Donen.

Carrey was last seen in "Yes Man." As for Gyllenhaal, he's got several projects coming up, including "Brothers" and "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time."

Take a look at Gyllenhaal as the ‘Prince of Persia’

The folks over at Just Jared got a hold of some pictures taken of Jake Gyllenhaal on the Moroccan set of Mike Newell’s upcoming video game adaptation “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.” You can see part of one shot just above, and the rest of them right here!

The plot of “Persia” follows Prince Dastan (Gyllenhaal) as he teams up with a princess (Gemma Arterton) to stop a ruthless leader from laying his hands on the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can be used to reverse time and rule the world. Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina co-star.

I’ve never actually played the game and don’t know much else about the plot or characters, but considering the screenshots and trailers I've seen from the game, Gyllenhaal seems like a good choice to portray the hero of this adventure. “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” is scheduled to open May 28, 2010.
