'Jersey Shore' cast to appear in 'Three Stooges'

If one were in the mood for arguing, one could argue that the Farrelly Brothers were quite a force to be reckoned with in the 1990s. With big hits such as "Dumb and Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary," things seemed to only be looking up for the directors.

However, the 2000s were less kind to them as they released a slew of subpar comedies including the aweful "Osmosis Jones," "Stuck On You," and the recent "Hall Pass." When it was originally announced that the directors would be taking on a project regarding the lives of the Three Stooges, I was very interested.

Not only would the Stooges tragic story make for an interesting film, but the rumor mill at one point had Sean Penn attached to the film. Yet, the casting  of Penn turned out to be merely hearsay and the roles went to Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos.

Box Office: 'Gnomeo' takes over No. 1 spot

None of the two major releases this past week managed to claim box office glory in North America, as "Gnomeo and Juliet" jumped to the top with $14.2 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday. The animated family film lifted its total gross to $75.1 million after three weeks in release.

New entry "Hall Pass" with Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis debuted at No. 2, earning a weak $13.4 million from 2,950 sites. The Warner Bros. release directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly ("There's Something About Mary") scored an average of $4,549 per theater.

'Hall Pass' cast grows with Applegate, Milano

Christina Applegate

Bobby and Peter Farrelly's upcoming comedy "Hall Pass" has recruited four more actors: Christina Applegate, Alyssa Milano, Larry Campbell and Vanessa Angel. Already starring in the New Line Cinema production are Amanda Bynes, Jenna Fischer, Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis.

The film follows a married couple hoping to spice up their relationship when the wife (Fischer) gives her husband (Wilson) a pass to have sex with different people. Another couple does the same. Jason Sudeikis co-stars as Wilson's friend, the other man with a pass.

The Hollywood Reporter says Stephen Merchant, J.B. Smoove, Nicky Whelan and Derek Waters are also part of the cast. Applegate will soon be seen in "Going the Distance." Milano has "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend" coming up soon. You may know Campbell from "Accoriding to Jim."

Amanda Bynes returns in 'Hall Pass'

The cast for Bobby and Peter Farrelly's upcoming comedy "Hall Pass" is still growing, and the latest to join the party is Amanda Bynes, who last starred on the big screen in the stupid teen flick "Sydney White."

The film follows a married couple hoping to spice up their relationship when the wife (Jenna Fischer) gives her husband (Owen Wilson) a pass to have sex with different people. Another couple does the same.

Jason Sudeikis co-stars as Wilson's friend, the other man with a pass. Variety did not confirm what role Amanda Bynes will be playing exactly. My guess is she's a chick one of the men want to hook up with.

Owen Wilson joins new Farrelly comedy; Sean Penn retuns to 'Three Stooges'

Owen Wilson gets a pass for something, while Sean Penn reportedly returns to acting

A bunch of Farrelly news hit the Web today, starting with the announcement that Owen Wilson will join Jason Sudeikis in Bobby and Peter Farrelly's upcoming comedy "Hall Pass," which Fox threw out and New Line picked up in turnaround.

The Hollywood Reporter says the film will focus on a married couple planning to spice up their relationship by giving each other passes to have sex with different people. Wilson would play the husband, and Sudeikis would play his friend, who also receives a pass.

Meanwhile, Sean Penn is apparently part of the Farrellys' "The Three Stooges" again. The actor dropped out because he wanted to take some time off, but THR says Bobby recently said they got him back. It's unsure though when this film will actually head into production.

Wilson's voice was recently featured in "Fantastic Mr. Fox," and he will also appear in "Little Fockers." As for the Farrelly bros., they haven't done anything since "The Heartbreak Kid," which I hated. Here's to hoping they will make another funny movie or something.
