Cool new 'Sherlock Holmes' trailer delivers!

Sherlock Holmes Trailer delivers the goods

The more I see of Guy Ritchie's upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" adventure, the more I'm excited to see this film. A brand-new trailer just exploded onto the Web, and you can watch it after the jump.

As you can see below, this new trailer features a whole bunch of new footage, most of which looks really cool. It's a visually interesting and action-packed preview that works for me on several levels.

The focus of this preview is obviously the particular relationship between Holmes and Watson, and it looks like Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law really have what it takes to pull this off.

'Sherlock Holmes' sequel already in development

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Sherlock Holmes

Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" won't open in theaters until Dec. 25, 2009, but Warner Bros. is already developing a sequel to the upcoming action adventure starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

Launching sequels before the release of a film is the new thing in Hollywood, and I guess Warner strongly believes this one has franchise potential. Responses to footage shown at Comic-Con has been positive.

Guy Ritchie will direct 'Lobo' adaptation next

Guy Ritchie is keeping himself busy, as the "Sherlock Holmes" helmer has already set his next directing gig: the big-screen adaptation of DC Comics' character "Lobo" for Warner Bros. Production is set to kick off early next year already.

Don Payne ("4: Rise of the Silver Surfer") wrote the script, and Joel Silver is on board as one of the project's producers. Don't expect the usual Ritchie violence though, because Warner is aiming for a PG-13 rating on this one.

Rachel McAdams on new 'Sherlock Holmes' poster

The folks at IGN just posted a brand-new one-sheet for Guy Ritchie's upcoming "Sherlock Holmes." This character poster entirely belongs to Rachel McAdams, who plays Irene Adler in the flick.

Robert Downey Jr. stars as Holmes, while Jude Law is on board as Watson. McAdams obviously plays his love interest, and Mark Strong will portray the villain.

"Sherlock" will make his way to the big screen Dec. 25, 2009. For the sake of it, I also posted the two previous character posters below. Enjoy!

Rather excellent trailer for 'Sherlock Holmes'!

Apart from Richard Jenkins, there is one other actor I'm always incredibly excited to see on the big screen these days, and of course, that guy is Robert Downey Jr. His next big feature is Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes," and judging by the film's first (and excellent) trailer, Downey Jr. is most definitley the perfect man for the job.

Anyway, the first preview for the already anticipated film has finally debuted online, and you should check it out below. Sure, there's a looooot of slow-motion in there, but there's also pleeeeenty to like, at least in my opinion. In the flick, Robert Downey Jr. stars as Holmes, while Jude Law is on board as Watson. Rachel McAdams plays his love interest, and Mark Strong will portray the villain.

Posters for 'Sherlock Holmes;' 'Shutter Island'

Here are three posters for three films I'm actually looking forward to a lot. The first one is for Guy Ritchie's upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" and first appeared on the Web at LatinoReview.

It's quite a dark shot of lead actor Robert Downey Jr., who stars as Holmes. Jude Law is on board as Watson, Rachel McAdams plays his love interest, and Mark Strong will portray the villain. "Holmes," as the poster indicates, opens Dec. 25, 2009.

The second poster looks like a teaser sheet for Martin Scorcese's "Shutter Island," and it first popped up at RopeOfSilicon. Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams, Max von Sydow, Patricia Clarkson, Emily Mortimer and Jackie Earle Haley star. The film opens Oct. 2.

The folks at USA Today just posted a brand-new official photo from Guy Ritchie's upcoming "Sherlock Holmes," a film I am getting pretty excited about these days:

As I was about to post this entry, I also stumbled across a set pic of Rachel McAdams. Make sure you check that out below. She's wearing quite the extravagant outfit. (via TheBadAndUgly)

Two brand-new stills from 'Sherlock Holmes' hit

Warner Bros. just released two new stills from Guy Ritchie's new take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional super detective. In the still above, you get a quick glimpse of Robert Downey Jr. as a bloody Sherlock. In the image after the jump, you see Sherlock whispering something to Watson, played by Jude Law.

Rachel McAdams stars as Holmes’ love interest, while Mark Strong is the villain, but no pictures of them have been released or popped up online at this stage.

As you may have heard already, the film is expected to portray the titular character as more modern and adventurous. With Ritchie in the director’s chair, who knows what that really means. "Sherlock Holmes" is on course for a Nov. 20, 2009 release.

Here are some 'Sherlock Holmes' villain news

Before I get to the actual bit of news about a villain in Guy Ritchie's upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" flick, let me point out that it contains a small spoiler. This is your only warning.

Now, IGN recently talked to Mark Strong, who plays Lord Blackwood in Ritchie's reimagination of the famous detective.

Here's what Strong had to say about Holmes' arch-nemesis Moriarty: "Moriarty's in it... but you don't really see him. I think he's there because if the franchise carries on, there's a possibility that he will appear in a larger guise."

Well, it will be interesting to see how Ritchie will include the character in this first movie, considering we don't really get to see him.

Of course, as you may know, Robery Downey Jr. plays Holmes, with Jude Law on board as Watson. Rachel McAdams and Kelly Reilly co-star. It will take until next November before we get to see the movie on the big screen.
