‘Get Smart’ to get sequel
Do you miss Maxwell Smart? In case you do, here’s some good news for you: Warner Bros. is working on a potential sequel to Peter Segal’s action comedy “Get Smart,” according to Variety.
Although it has not been officially announced yet, Steve Carell is expected to return as the clumsy spy, who successfully battled the forces of KAOS in this summer’s hit blockbuster.
“Get Smart” pulled in $130 million domestically and $230 million worldwide, which is obviously reason enough for the studio to launch into the production of a follow-up.
This announcement was made in conjunction with a three-year first-look deal Carell sealed with Warner. The agreement allows “The Office” star to produce several projects for the studio.
"I'm also looking for films I can produce that aren't right for me as an actor,” he told Variety.
Carell is currently working on the latest season of TV’s “The Office.” I don’t know about you, but I didn’t like “Get Smart” enough to get excited about a sequel. They should have sent Maxwell into early retirement instead.
