Interview with George A. Romero, director of 'Survival of the Dead'

George A. Romero

The master of the zombie genre is back! George A. Romero's "Survival of the Dead" is now in theaters and VOD, and the man himself recently stopped in San Francisco, CA to chat about the new film, which follows a bunch of characters as they try to stay alive while the dead continue to walk the Earth.

I didn't get that much time with Romero, but we talked about how he came up with this story, how many more "Dead" films he has planned, how much he loves to shoot films in Canada, and what he thinks of all the mainstream zombie films we've been seeing lately. Hint: he doesn't really like them.

'Survival of the Dead' gets red band trailer

The master of zombie flicks has a new flick coming out soon, and here is a brand-new red band feature trailer for it, courtesy of IGN. George A. Romero's "Survival of the Dead" opens May 28, 2010, and if you're into his stuff, I bet you're going to enjoy this one. Undead people, weirdos and tons of blood follows below.

Synopsis: On an island off the coast of North America, local residents simultaneously fight a zombie epidemic while hoping for a cure to return their un-dead relatives back to their human state. Okay, sounds interesting enough to me. The cast includes Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh and Kathleen Munroe.

Promotional trailer for Romero's '...of the Dead'!

I'm always excited to see a new George A. Romero film. I mean, come on, he's the master of zombie flicks, and his creations are as interesting as they are entertaining.

Well, Romero is currently working on "...of the Dead" (yeah, that's actually the title for now), and a first promotional trailer for the project has just popped up online. I recommend you check it out after the jump.

On an island off the coast of North America, local residents simultaneously fight a zombie epidemic while looking for a cure to return their un-dead relatives back to their human state.

This sounds just like a good Romero pic, and as you can see below, it also looks like a good Romero pic. A release date has not been announced yet, but I sure hope we'll get to see this one some time later this year.

Romero most recently directed "Diary of the Dead," which I thoroughly enjoyed. Check out my Blu-ray review of the film right here.

Ouverture Films picks up ‘Crazies’ remake

Ouverture Films is set to develop the remake of George A. Romero’s 1973 horror flick “The Crazies,” according to Variety.

Breck Eisner, director of “Sahara,” is helming a script by Ray Wright and Scott Kosar. Apparently, Romero will executive produce the project, which stars production in 2009.

The film follows what happens to people in a small Kansas town hit by a deadly virus that originates in the local water supply.

Let’s hope Eisner and his team tackle this remake just as well as Zack Snyder did with “Dawn of the Dead.”

Apparently, the original “Crazies” was produced on a budget of approx. $270,000.
