The plot: The film traces the origin of Logan aka. Wolverine, who hunts down Victor Creed and William Stryker after they screw him over big time.

Our thoughts: What you’ve seen in the trailers for Gavin Hood’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is exactly what you get: fast-paced action sequences with massive explosions, but barely any story. I can’t say the first big blockbuster of the summer season at the movies totally disappointed me, but I admit I left the theater dissatisfied.

The summer season at the movies has kicked off, and the first blockbuster to open is Gavin Hood's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Taylor Kitsch and Ryan Reynolds. Here's what some of the Web's critics think about the film:

Intense new 'Wolverine' trailer debuts online

If you're among those eagerly awaiting the May 1, 2009 release date of Gavin Hood's "X-Men: Origins: Wolverine," make sure to check out the brand-new feature trailer after the jump.

It's a tad more explosive than the previous trailers and TV spots we've seen, and it includes quite a bit of new, exciting footage as well.

Starring Hugh Jackman as the titular character, the movie follows Wolverine's complex relationship with Victor Creed (Sabretooth) and his several other encounters with mutants.

Also starring are Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth, Danny Huston as William Stryker, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit and Dominic Monaghan as Beak.

Brand-new TV spots for 'Wolverine' hit!

It's TV spot time again!

As you may have heard already, Fox just debuted a series of new spots for Gavin Hood's upcoming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The second and third ones are now available on the Web, and you can check them out below the jump. They're about a minute long and focus on Wolverine and Sabretooth, as well as the "special team" William Stryker is putting together.

Like the previous spot (check it out here), these two feature quite a bit of new footage, and I have to admit, the more I see, the more excited I get about this one.

Hugh Jackman returns to reprise his role of the titular character. "Wolverine" opens everywhere May 1, 2009. Gavin Hood also directed "Rendition" and "Tsotsi."

Gavin Hood's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" opens May 1, 2009, and 20th Century Fox has provided the guys at ComingSoon a brand-new pic from the flick. Check it out here:

As you can see, this explosive still features Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed / Sabretooth. Also starring are Hugh Jackman as the titular character, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Danny Huston as William Stryker, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit and Dominic Monaghan as Beak.

Posters for 'Wolverine,' 'Watchmen,' 'Crossing Over'

Picked up three new one-sheets on my poster radar today, and here they are:

The first one is the new poster for Gavin Hood's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," due in theaters May 1, 2009. It's simple, but it looks good nonetheless.

Next up is the final poster for Zack Snyder's "Watchmen," which opens March 6. Definitely something I would put up on the wall.

Finally, the last one-sheet is for Wayne Kramer's "Crossing Over," a multi-character canvas about immigrants of different nationalities struggling to achieve legal status in Los Angeles.

It's an excellent poster, by the way. "Over," with Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta ans Ashley Judd, opens Feb. 27.

Promo pic for 'Wolverine' surfaces online

The folks at Ain't It Cool News recently landed a brand-new promo pic from Gavin Hood's upcoming action flick "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which is set to hit theaters May 1, 2009. Here it is:

Also, as you may have already heard, Hood and his crew are currently busy doing some reshoots. I know that's usually a bad sign, but Hugh Jackman himself told AICN that people don't need to worry about anything.

Here is part of an email he sent out:

"I wanted to reach out and let you know that due to scheduling conflicts with certain cast members and location/weather considerations, we had to wait until now to shoot a couple of scenes. Please rest assured that 'Wolverine' will be badass and hopefully meet all of your expectations."

If you saw "The Day the Earth Stood Still" in theaters this past weekend, I'm sure you also caught the awesome trailer for Gavin Hood's upcoming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

No lengthy introduction is needed anymore, because "Wolverine" is already one of the most anticipated flicks of 2009.
