So what about that 'Sin City 2'?

I've heard all kinds of things about "Sin City 2" over the past couple of months, but the one thing I would really like to know is: when will this movie actually happen?

Back in December, Frank Miller spilled a few details about the script being done and the movie potentially being ready to shoot by April. Well, April rolls around in less than a month, so that seems unlikely.

On the other hand, ComingSoon recently talked to Rosario Dawson, who played Gail in "Sin City" and will be back for the sequel. And according to her, "Sin City 2" seems to be moving forward... slowly.

"I just talked to Frank about it though and said he finished it a couple of months ago so I'm really excited to get it going," she said about the script. "Supposedly it's going to happen in 2009."

And here is what she told ComingSoon about her character in the sequel: "I get to wear a mask in this one. Is that specific enough?"

Okay, I guess that means we will see "Sin City 2" one day after all.

Review: "The Spirit"

Seen on: December 26, 2008

The players: Director: Frank Miller, Writer: Frank Miller, Cast: Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Sarah Paulson, Jaime King, Paz Vega

Facts of interest: Based on the graphic novels by Will Eisner.

The plot: After returning from the dead, former cop Denny Colt battles crime in Central City as the Spirit.

Our thoughts: I was really looking forward to the big-screen adaptation of Will Eisner’s graphic novel series “The Spirit,” but what I ended up seeing didn’t fulfill my expectations at all. Frank Miller’s solo directorial debut should have been an amazing ride, but in the end, it’s nothing but a boring mess that looks great but fails to entertain.

Six new but weird 'The Spirit' clips debut

Frank Miller's "The Spirit" opens this Thursday, and if you feel you just can't wait to see the movie, here are seven new clips that recently popped up over at Yahoo!

Based on the graphic novels by Will Eisner, the movie centers on rookie cop Denny Colt (Gabriel Macht), who returns from the dead to battle crime in Central City. Samuel L. Jackson plays The Octopus, one of his enemies.

Also starring are Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson, Jaime King and Sarah Paulson. Now, I don't know about you, but most of these clips just seem pretty weird to me.

Sure, while the visual style still looks attractive enough, I just can't get over how ridiculous the dialogue sounds. It all seems too rehearsed, almost laughable, and I'm not quite sure if Miller intentionally wanted it to comes across this way.

Anyway, check them out below and let me know what you think. I hope the movie as a whole is better than this.

Frank Miller plans 'Buck Rogers' adaptation

Frank Miller is a busy guy these days, and the writer-director is currently eyeing a new big-screen take on "Buck Rogers."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Odd Lot Entertainment, which partnered with Miller on his latest flick "The Spirit," is currently in talks to acquire the rights to "Rogers."

Miller is expected to write and direct the film, which the trade says may be dark and feature Miller's usual visual style and themes.

The character of Buck Rogers first appeard in a couple of novellas and a comic strip in the late 1920s. Miller's project will not be the first time Rogers has appeared on the screen.

THR also says "Buck Rogers" could be Miller's next priority project, and if that's true, I'm not quite sure what will happen to "Sin City 2."

As you may have heard or read earlier this month, Miller said in an interview with IGN UK that the sequel is written and they may start shooting in a few months. What the...?

Anyway, Miller's next, "The Spirit," opens Dec. 25. From what I've read on the Web so far, early reviews are pretty negative. We'll see what happens.

First 'The Spirit' clip debuts online

I admit I'm quite excited about Frank Miller's upcoming "The Spirit," the anticipated adaptation of Will Eisner's comic book series.

The first clip from the flick poped up online earlier today, and you can check it out below. It follows The Spirit (Gabriel Macht) as he explains viewers why the city is always on his side during battle.

Trailers and other footage from the film have been criticized a bit around the Web for looking too much like "Sin City," but who cares? There are plenty of awesome movies out there that look very much alike.

"The Spirit" finally arrives Dec. 25, 2008. Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson, Jaime King and Samuel L. Jackson co-star. In case you have not seen it yet, check out our contest and enter for a chance to win a "Spirit Visual Companion."

'Sin City 2' ready to start shooting soon?

So what about that "Sin City" sequel? I'm not a big fan of sequels in most cases, but considering how much I enjoyed Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's first film, I admit I would love to see a follow-up asap.

Problem is, we haven't heard much about the development of "Sin City 2" recently, and quite frankly, at one stage I thought the project was dead. But not so fast!

IGN UK recently talked to Miller, who expressed a certain enthusiasm toward the whole thing. "Sin City 2 is written," he said.

"It's mainly a matter of working out the details of the production. I'm hoping to do it with Robert Rodriguez again in the same circumstances that we did the first one, and we could be shooting as soon as April."

April, huh? If they can pull THAT off, I'm sure they could have the whole thing ready to hit theaters by the end of the year. For now, let's get excited about this statement and wait for the official confirmation.
