Ridley Scott wants Angelina Jolie in 'Gucci'

Angelina Jolie

Ridley Scott is chatting up Angelina Jolie to star in "Gucci," Fox 2000's upcoming murder drama about the Gucci fashion dynasty. Plans are to get the film rolling into production as early as next year.

Variety reports Jolie is in talks to play Patrizia Reggiano, who was sentenced to 29 years in prison for plotting the murder of ex-husband Maurizio Gucci. He was shot to death in front of his apartment in 1995.

The script is not locked yet, and Fox 2000 is looking for a new screenwriter to rewrite the film. Scott is also looking for an actor for the Gucci role, and the trade says he approached Leonardo DiCaprio.

David O. Russell to direct romantic comedy 'Aaron'

David O. Russell's latest directorial effort "Nailed" almost didn't make it through production because the project hit some serious money trouble, but the director is lining up several future projects I hope will run a lot smoother.

According to Variety, Russell is all set to direct Fox 2000's romantic comedy "Aaron and Sarah" from a script by Chad Gomez Creasey and his wife Dara Resnik Creasey (cool names).

The plot follows a nerd and a popular girl who meet in high school and eventually fall in love. It seems the story will stretch over four or more years or so. The trade said the project was previously known as "B.F.F." at Rogue.

Russell, the guy who directed "Three Kings" and "I Heart Huckabees," also recently boarded "The Silver Linings Playbook," based on the novel by Matthew Quick. He was also attached to helm New Line Cinema's upcoming comedy "The Grackle," which had Matthew McConaughey attached to star.

Ridley Scott ready to go to ‘War’

Ridley Scott is finally set to direct the big-screen adaptation of Joe Haldeman’s 1974 novel “The Forever War,” according to Variety.

Scott apparently wanted to helm the flick more than two decades ago, but problems with the acquisition of rights ended up delaying the project. Fox 2000 now finally managed to give the film a home.

"I first pursued ‘Forever War’ 25 years ago, and the book has only grown more timely and relevant since," Scott told Variety.

The trade says the book revolves around a soldier who battles an enemy in deep space for only a few months, only to return home to a planet he doesn’t recognize some 20 years later.

Scott’s latest flick “Body of Lies” hit theaters this weekend and debuted in third place at the domestic box office. His next project is “Nottingham,” about a love triangle between Robin Hood, Maid Marian and the Sheriff of Nottingham.
