Sandra Bullock, Tom Hanks to star in 'Loud'

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks could be teaming up for the post-9/11 drama "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close," the big-screen adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's novel. Scott Rudin is producing.

The project has not yet been greenlit, but Warner has made offers to Bullock and Hanks. The story follows a boy searching for a lock after he finds a key that belonged to his late father, a 9/11 victim.

Variety says Eric Roth penned the screenplay, and Stephen Daldry ("The Reader") is in talks to direct the film. Bullock last starred in "The Blind Side." Hanks will soon star in "Larry Crowne," which he helmed.

Fincher to tackle 'Devil in the White City'?

David Fincher seems to be interested in directing the big-screen adaptation of Erik Larson's "The Devil in the White City," according to ComingSoon.

Eric Roth, screenwriter of Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," recently revealed this at a press junket.

As for the book, it focuses mainly on the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago and features H.H. Holmes, the first documented serial killer in America.

Roth, who wrote the script, said, "Fincher's actually interested in it. I want to do a whole thing showing how skyscrapers were built. I love the fact that, in Chicago, there's no low ground to put skyscrapers in. There's just water."

Sounds like an interesting project to me. I just realized I have the book lying around here somewhere, although I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Now I've go the perfect opportunity to do so.
