New trailer for David Schwimmer's 'Trust'

David Schwimmer directs Trust

David Schwimmer (yes, THAT David Schwimmer) has a new movie coming to theaters soon, and no, it's not a comedy. On the contrary, "Trust" looks like a heavy family drama filled with big emotional moments, as you can see in the new trailer below. The film is star-packed as well, with Clive Owen and Catherine Keener in the lead.

Also starring is Liana Liberato, who plays Annie, a teenager who meets a dude online. When she finally decides to meet him tough, she realizes that she's been chatting with a creepy stranger, and that's where things start spinning out of control for her and her parents (Owen and Keener). Sounds decent enough, and it actually doesn't look bad.

Movie Review: "Blue Valentine"

Seen on: September 24, 2010

The players: Director: Derek Cianfrance, Writers: Joey Curtis, Cami Delavigne, Derek Cianfrance, Cast: Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams, Mike Vogel

Facts of interest: The film played at Sundance and Cannes.

The plot: The film centers on a contempo married couple, charting their evolution over a span of years by cross-cutting between time periods.

Our thoughts: There are a few different ways to see a story like this. In the present we watch a marriage fall apart, then we go to the past and watch its creation. Back and forth, like two strings wrapping around one another. One would be hard-pressed not to call Dean (Ryan Gosling) a loser. He inhabits a rather low social strata with oblivious nonchalance, working as a mover, unambitious but decent.

Ed Norton and Robert De Niro in 'Stone' trailer

Edward Norton and Robert De Niro are back together on the big screen in John Curran's upcoming drama thriller "Stone," and the first trailer for the film is now online, so check it out below. It's quite intense.

De Niro plays a parole officer who oversees the case of Norton's character, who is in prison for covering up the murder of his grandparents with a fire. He needs to convince De Niro he's ready for a release.

Milla Jovovich plays Norton's wife, a sexy woman who attempts to seduce De Niro. Both men have their dark sides, and "Stone" explores how they deal with their predicaments. It looks compelling for sure.

Netflix This: 'Bass Ackwards'

You have to admit: the whole Netflix thing is pretty awesome, and because it is, I figured it deserves a new little feature I call "Netflix This." Essentially, it's a suggestion for a flick or TV show you should definitely check out on Netflix if you have the time. We all know there are some great selections on there.

So, my first Netflix pick is a charming indie flick titled "Bass Ackwards." You may have heard some stuff about it earlier this year when Sundance was in the news. It's a comedy-drama written and directed by Linas Phillips, who also portrays the main character, and it's undoubtedly a great low-budget movie.

The cast for this one is promising, with Diane Lane leading the race. She will slip into the role of Penny Chenery, an American racehorse owner whose thoroughbred Secretariat won the 1973 Tripe Crown.

Chenery first stepped into the world of horses and racing when she took over her father’s horse farm in Virginia. She later became known as the “first lady of racing.” John Malkovich co-stars.
