Super hilarious clip from 'Young Adult'

One of the films I'm most excited about this December is Jason Reitman's "Young Adult," a new comedy starring Charlize Theron as Mavis, a fiction writer who returns to her home in small-town Minnesota, looking to rekindle a romance with her now married ex-boyfriend.

The trailer for "Young Adult" won me over instantly, and if you're looking for some extra footage from the film, consider checking out this latest clip/promo. It's quite brief, yes, but it delivers laughs, proving Theron will most likely own this movie big time. See after the jump.

"Young Adult" marks the return of the Reitman/Diablo Cody collaboration. Cody and Reitman previously teamed up on "Juno," a fantastic little comedy that went on to make a lot of money and pull in superb critical acclaim. Reitman also helmed "Up in the Air."

Diablo Cody to direct 'Lamb of God'

Diablo Cody is taking control behind the camera. The Oscar-winning writer is teaming with Mandate Pictures for her latest script "Lamb of God," which she will direct. Additionally, it looks like the studio is going to fast track the project.

The central character is a conservative religious woman who stops believing in God after a plane crash. As a result, she heads to Las Vegas to go crazy, only to rediscover her faith later on. Sounds like an odd story for Diablo Cody.

Cody also wrote "Jennifer's Body" and the upcoming "Young Adult." She also created TV's "United States of Tara." I like her stuff. There, I said it.

Patton Oswalt boards 'Young Adult'

Jason Reitman ("Up in the Air") is set to direct Diablo Cody's new script "Young Adult" for Mandate, and actors Patton Oswalt and Patrick Wilson are joining the project, which also stars Charlize Theron.

The Hollywood Reporter says the story follows a divorced, young-adult fiction writer (Theron) who heads back to a small Minnesota town to chase a former boyfriend. Problem is he and his wife just had a baby.

Patton is set to play a dude who once had a crush on Theron's character. Wilson plays the ex-boyfriend. Oswalt appears on "United States of Tara," and Wilson recently starred in "The Switch" and "The A-Team."

Jason Reitman to direct Diablo Cody's 'Young Adult'

Jason Reitman is set to direct Diablo Cody's script "Young Adult," and Charlize Theron is set to play the lead in the project, according to Deadline. That means the team behind "Juno" is back together.

The story? Theron plays a young adult novel ghostwriter who sets out to find an identity with her pseudonym. One of the things she does is try to refresh the relationship with her ex-boyfriend.

Cody won an Oscar for "Juno," and she also wrote "Jennifer's Body," which I admit I enjoyed. Reitman's most recent flick was "Up in the Air," my favorite film of 2009. It was nominated for several Oscars as well.

Diablo Cody goes back to high school

"Jennifer's Body" didn't exactly deliver an explosive opening at the box office last weekend ($6.8 million), but Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody is set for her new project: an adaptation of "Sweet Valley High."

"High" will be a big-screen version of the book series created by Francine Pascal. Universal is backing the movie, and the studio is in the process of acquiring the rights to the books published by Random House.

'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' tops box office!

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Sony Pictures Animation's "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" landed at the No. 1 spot at the North American box office Friday with a solid $8.1 million in ticket sales.

The animated adventure directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller is currently playing in both 3D and 2D format at 3,119 locations, and it follows the misadventures of an inventor who creates a device that converts water into food.

At No. 2, Steven Soderbergh's comedy "The Informant!" debuted with a daily gross of $3.6 million. The Warner Bros. release stars Matt Damon as an informant who helps the FBI expose his company's scandal all while hoping he'll be able to move up a few ranks.

Movie Review: “Jennifer’s Body”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: September 14, 2009

The players: Director: Karyn Kusama, Writer: Diablo Cody, Cast: Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Simmons, J. K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris

Facts of interest: Diablo Cody also penned "Juno."

The plot: A sexy high school cheerleader (Megan Fox) starts running around eating every tasty boy she can find.

Our quick thoughts: To tell you the truth, Karyn Kusama’s horror flick “Jennifer’s Body” worked for me. It’s not a film that will make my list of this year’s best, but it successfully establishes a menacing atmosphere and tells an entertaining action-driven story about a hot high school chick devouring every tasty boy she comes across.

Solid 'Jennifer's Body' international poster

As the Sept. 18, 2009 release date of Karyn Kusama's "Jennifer's Body" is approaching, more promotional material for the film pops up every week. Here is a brand-new Spanish poster for the Diablo Cody-scripted horror flick, courtesy of Aullidos.

I personally prefer this one to the American one-sheet, which I've also attached for comparison. It looks a little sharper, and more provocative. In the film, Megan Fox plays a freak possessed by a demon that causes her to eat boys. Amanda Seyfried co-stars as a friend trying to put an end to the horror show.

Watch this 'Jennifer's Body' behind-the-scenes clip

Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body

I'm not quite sure what to make of Karyn Kusama's "Jennifer's Body," an upcoming horror flick written by "Juno" Oscar winner Diablo Cody. Sure, it's got Megan Fox playing a freak possessed by a demon that causes her to eat boys, but judging only by the footage I've seen so far, this one could as well tank big time.

For now though, let's enjoy the promotional material we get to see for the horror flick, which opens Sept. 18, 2009. After the jump, I invite you to check out a short behind-the-scenes clip, in which Fox, co-star Amanda Seyfried, Cody and Kusama briefly talk story and characters. I think you'll also stumble across a tiny bit of new footage.
