'Defendor' gets another great trailer, DVD release

Woody Harrelson in Defendor trailer

Ever since I saw the first trailer for Peter Stebbings' dark comedy "Defendor," I've been waiting for it to hit theaters. Sony picked it up last year, but alas, the studio won't give it the release I think it deserves.

It's a shame, really, because it all looks incredibly funny. Even this new trailer looks great, proving that this is a flick that should've gotten a decent release no matter what. Anyway, that's how Hollywood works...

Harrelson plays Arthur Poppington, a man who turns into a self-made superhero at night and runs afoul of the law when he lays a beating on an undercover cop who was abusing a young prostitute named Kat.

Also starring are Kat Dennings, Elias Koteas and Sandra Oh.Check out the new feature trailer below, and make sure you catch it on DVD when Sony releases it April 13, 2010. Below, find the details of the disc.

Sony Pictures picks up 'Defendor' at Toronto

You will soon see Woody Harrelson run around as a self-made superhero on the big screen, and that's great news. No, I haven't seen Peter Stebbings' "Defendor," but a trailer for the film debuted two weeks ago, and it really got me intrigued.

Sony Pictures picked up the distribution rights for the U.S. and most of the world for "Defendor" at the Toronto Film Festival, and this in a seven-figure deal, according to Variety. I'm really glad this went down, because "Defendor" looks darn interesting.

Woody Harrelson in funny 'Defendor' trailer

Woody Harrelson in Defendor

Peter Stebbings' "Defendor" starring Woody Harrelson will be screening at the Toronto Film Festival this month, and a trailer for the comedy/drama has debuted online. Check it out after the jump; it's really intriguing and occasionally quite funny as well. I can only hope the flick will find a distributor and we'll get to see it in theaters soon enough.

Harrelson plays Arthur Poppington, a man who turns into a self-made superhero at night and runs afoul of the law when he lays a beating on an undercover cop who was abusing a young prostitute named Kat. Always the hero, Arthur takes Kat to his secret hideout hoping she can help him find his arch-nemesis, the diabolical Captain Industry.
