Robert Rodriguez really directing 'Deadpool'?

It is moving from a rumor to a possibility. Robert Rodriguez, the man behind "Sin City," "Shorts" and the upcoming "Machete," could end up directing 20th Century Fox's "X-Men" spinoff "Deadpool."

The rumor has been circling the Web for a while, but the L.A. Times says Rodriguez and the studio are in fact now negotiating. A deal is not in place, but it seems the talks are getting more intense. Good to hear...

Rodriguez would be a very interesting choice. "Deadpool" is a big film, and this guy has what it takes to create something wildly entertaining. Right now though, "Spy Kids 4: Armageddon" is Robert's priority.

'Zombieland' screenwriters to pen 'Deadpool'

Ryan Reynolds will be Deadpool again

Following the success of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," 20th Century Fox has decided it would be a great idea to develop a "Deadpool" spinoff. Ryan Reynolds is already on board to reprise his role as Wade Wilson, and now the project has two writers!

According to Variety, Fox has hired "Zombieland" scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to write the script. The trade says they will also keep the tone of the flick close to that of "Zombieland," a horror comedy I absolutely loved. It's not clear when the project will hit production.

Reynolds, the dude from "The Proposal," will soon be seen in "Buried." He is also getting ready to shoot "Green Lantern." Reese and Wernick also penned the upcoming film "Earth vs. Moon." It looks like the two will also return for the "Zombieland" sequel.

Fox to develop 'Deadpool' spin-off

Like it or not, but the folks at Fox will keep making "X-Men" flicks until nobody out there cares anymore. Following the solid box office start of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," the studio quickly moved to announced plans for a sequel, and according to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox is now also planning a "Deadpool" spin-off.

That's right. Ryan Reynolds, who played Wade Wilson and later Deadpool in "Wolverine," is expected to reprise his role. In Gavin Hood's flick, Wade is known as the talkative mercenary who eventually reappears after joining William Stryker's Weapon X program.

No writers are on-board yet. As I'm sure you've heard already, Fox is also working on "Magneto" and "X-Men: First Class." If all these flicks turn out to be highly profitable, I'm sure we'll see a lot more. How about "X-Men: Senior Year" or something. Anyway, Reynolds will soon star alongside Sandra Bullock in "The Proposal."
