First official 'Deathly Hallows' image debuts!

Image from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Earlier this year, we got a first but rather lame first look at Daniel Radcliffe in David Yates upcoming "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I," which is slated for a Nov. 19. 2010 release.

The folks at USA Today now provided the first official photo from the first part of the last "Harry Potter" flick, and you can see it above. It's not exactly a compelling shot. Ron seems much taller though, no?

Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Brendan Gleeson, Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman return in the sequel, and as you know, "Deathly Hallows" will be divided in two parts, with No. 2 opening July 15, 2011.

Yes, that means the sixth installment in the "Harry Potter" series set a new midnight screening record. Even "The Dark Knight" only pulled in $18 million. Previously, "Star Wars: Episode III —Revenge of the Sith" took $17 million.

Review: “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”

Seen on: July 15, 2009

The players: Director: David Yates, Writer: Steve Kloves, Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Michael Gambon, Helena Bonham Carter

Facts of interest: David Yates is also directing the two "Deathly Hallows" parts.

The plot: It's his sixth year at Hogwarts, and Harry Potter explores the past of Voldemort as dark forces descend upon Hogwarts.

Our thoughts: The world’s most famous wizard returns to the big screen for a sixth time in David Yates’ “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” a splendidly executed family adventure and yet another superb addition to an already marvelous series based on the novels by J.K. Rowling. You know what? I’m just going to say it right now: as far as I’m concerned, this is the best Potter yet!

TV spot mania: 'Year One' / 'Revenge of the Fallen' / 'Half-Blood Prince'

How about starting the week with some exciting TV spots? Scroll down a bit, and you can check out two new spots from David Yates' upcoming "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," which will hit theaters July 15, 2009.

Both spots include some new footage, and while one of them takes a closer look at all the romance in the new film, the other one promotes the flick's action. Anyone else really looking forward to Harry's sixth adventure? I sure am.

Next up is a new spot for Michael Bay's anticipated "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." While it's not as vibrant as its predecessors, it does boats plenty of new footage, so I strongly suggest you check it out as well.

Finally, you can scroll all the way down for a quick chat between Jack Black and Michael Cera in a special promotional spot for their upcoming comedy "Year One," due in theaters this Friday. I don't think it's a funny one, but maybe you disagree.
