Geat ready! 'Ghost Rider 2' is on the way...

Let me tell you: I sincerely hoped "Ghost Rider" would never make a comeback. I mean, Mark Steven Johnson's 2007 action flick with Nicolas Cage sucked so bad, I thought they would bury the damn thing and just let it go.

I was wrong, obviously, because in today's world, Hollywood is all about rebooting pretty much anything out there. That said, "Ghost Rider 2" is now officially on the way, courtesy of Columbia Pictures, and this according to Variety.

David S. Goyer gives short 'Magneto' update

Magneto coming

I'm starting to lose track of how many "X-Men" films there already are or are still to come, but one thing is for sure: we'll get to see several more. From filmmaker David S. Goyer comes a quick update on "X-Men Origins: Magneto," a project he once was and maybe still is attached to write and direct.

"They're still thinking about doing it," Goyer told the folks at MTV. "I'm sure that project will move forward in the next year or so."

Review: "The Unborn"

Seen on: January 10, 2009

The players: Director: David S. Goyer, Writer: David S. Goyer, Cast: Gary Oldman, Odette Yustman, Cam Gigandet, Jane Alexander, Meagan Good

Facts of interest: Goyer also directed "The Invisible" and "Blade: Trinity."

The plot: A young woman is haunted by an unborn spirit.

Our thoughts: David S. Goyer’s “The Unborn” is an incredibly lame horror flick, and I admit I found it utterly painful to sit through the whole thing without falling asleep or wanting to leave the theater. I know it sounds bad, but this is only the year’s first official week of new releases, and we’re already off to a disappointing start.

Daily news dose: 'Quantum of Solace' is top Bond in North America; Brolin talks Hayward

Here's your dose of quick news bits for Jan. 9, 2009...

• His name is Bond, James Bond, and his latest adventure "Quantum of Solace" just became the highest-grossing Bond film ever in North America. So far, the film has pulled $167.1 million domestically, passing the $167 million gross of "Casino Royale." (Coming Soon)

Collider recently talked to Josh Brolin, and the actor had to share this about Jimmy Hayward, the new "Jonah Hex" director: "I ended up meeting the guy and I think he's so far beyond most of us in his expertise and his filmic abilities. It was one of those things where I brought him to the studio and I said, 'I think this is the guy. I don't know why.' But I think he's a brilliant, brilliant filmmaker."

• David S. Goyer recently talked to IESB and said Warner is putting their planned DC flicks on hold: "A lot of the DC movies at Warner Brothers are all on hold while the figure out, they're going to come up with some new plan, methodology, things like that so everything has just been pressed pause on at the moment."

• "Slumdog Millionaire" won best film, best director (Danny Boyle), best screenwriter (Simon Beaufoy), best young actor (Dev Patel) and best composer (A.R. Rahman) at the 14th annual Critics' Choice awards. Sean Penn was named best actor, while "WALL-E" won best animated film. (Variety)

Five funny 'The Unborn' clips

Yes, I say funny because most of these clips just made me laugh. I know they're supposed to be scary and all, but check them out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Of course, the movie in question here is David S. Goyer's upcoming horror flick "The Unborn," which stars Odette Yustman as a young woman who is hunted by an evil spirit that wants to be born, like, right now.

Sure, it all sounds ridiculous, and judging by the footage after the jump, it really is. One clip that really made me crack up is the second one, during which Yustman says, "I need an exorcism performed." Wow, what a line.

Anyway, "The Unborn" also stars Gary Oldman, Meagan Good, Jane Alexander, Cam Gigandet and Carla Gugino. The birth of the flick is scheduled for Jan. 9, 2009. I'm eager to read your reactions to these clips.

'The Unborn' international poster debuts

The folks at Empire posted the new international poster (see after the jump) for David S. Goyer's upcoming thriller "The Unborn," yet another one of those flicks in which pissed-off ghosts bother the living.

Who agrees with me that the only interesting thing about this one-sheet is probably Odette Yustman's butt? Other than that, this international version looks even crappier than the domestic poster.

In the film, Yustman plays a young woman haunted by an evil spirit that wants to be born. Sounds pretty ridiculous right?

Anyway, Gary Oldman, Cam Gigandet, Meagan Good, Jane Alexander and Carla Gugino co-star. If you dig this stuff, I'm sure you'll get your money's worth when the film opens Jan. 9, 2009.

Final word: If Yustman ("Cloverfield") runs around like this for most of the film, it may actually end up being watchable. Who knows...

New 'Unborn' pics surface on web

David S. Goyer returns to the big screen with "The Unborn," a horror thriller about a young woman (Odette Yustman) haunted by an unborn spirit. Yeah, I know it doesn't sound particularly innovative.

Anyway, a bunch of new stills from the upcoming flick surfaced on the Web this morning, and I've included some of them right here. Joblo posted the hot one above and the first one after the jump. The last one comes from ShockTillYouDrop.

Gary Oldman, Cam Gigandet, Meagan Good, Jane Alexander and Carla Gugino round out the cast. As for Goyer, he also directed the disappointing "The Invisible" and "Blade: Trinity." On a more positive note, he also worked on the story for "The Dark Knight" with Christopher Nolan.

"The Unborn" will see daylight in theaters Jan. 9, 2009.

'The Unborn' poster debuts online

The folks over at Bloody-Disgusting.com premiered the poster for David S. Goyer's upcoming horror pic "The Unborn," which, judging by its trailer, looks kind of crappy. As for the poster, it doesn't look that exciting either. The film is set to open Jan. 9, 2009.

'The Unborn' trailer is alive

The shabby horror thrillers just keep coming, don’t they? Wait, let me rephrase that. The shabby trailers for horror thrillers just keep coming. Although I’ll certainly give the flick a fair chance, the footage below doesn’t really promise us anything we haven’t seen yet too many times over the past years.

Directed by David S. Goyer, “The Unborn” follows a young woman (Odette Yustman) haunted by an unborn spirit. Gary Oldman, Meagan Good, Jane Alexander and Carla Gugino co-star. The film opens Jan. 9, 2009. Goyer most recently directed the mediocre “The Invisible.”

Enjoy the trailer (via MTV) right after the jump. And watch out for a short Matt Damon cameo. Can you spot him?
