David Dobkin to direct ‘King Arthur’ reboot

Warner Bros. has just secured a script for the re-imagining of “King Arthur,” rebooting the franchise that floundered back in 2004; the Jerry Bruckheimer produced flick that starred Clive Owen and Keira Knightly.

Cinema Blend says David Dobkin (“Wedding Crashers” and the upcoming “The Change-Up") is set to helm the period flick. With Dobkin in charge, one wonders if the film will take a more light-hearted approach, something along the lines of his own “Shanghi Knights."

Let’s just hope it doesn’t remind us of “Your Highness” or “Black Knight.”

Leslie Mann joins 'Change Up' comedy

Leslie Mann

Just recently, Olivia Wilde joined David Dobkin's upcoming comedy "The Change Up," and now the charming and talented Leslie Mann has also jumped on board. The film is set to bow next summer.

Jon Lucas and Scott Moore wrote the script, and the story sounds rather familiar: it follows a responsible guy (Jason Bateman) who switches bodies with his buddy, a lazy man-child (Ryan Reynolds).

Mann recently starred in "Shorts," "Funny People" and "17 Again." She will soon be seen in "I Love You Phillip Morris," and she did some voice work on the upcoming animated adventure "Rio." (Source: Variety)

Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman 'Change Up'

Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman have boarded the cast of David Dobkin's upcoming comedy "Change Up." Jon Lucas and Scott Moore ("The Hangover") wrote the script, and the story is a familiar one: a responsible guy (Bateman) switches bodies with his buddy, a lazy man-child (Reynolds).

Reynolds is quickly becoming one of Hollywood's busiest actors. The star from "The Proposal" has "Buried" coming soon, as well as "Green Lantern" and "Deadpool." Bateman recently appeared in "Up in the Air" and "Couples Retreat." (Source: The Hollywood Reporter)

Daily news dose: Will Ferrell leaves 'Neighborhood;' Could Katie Holmes star in 'Sex and the City 2'?

Will Ferrell

Here's your dose of film news for August 3, 2009:

• Will Ferrell was attached to star in and David Dobkin ("Fred Claus") was set to direct 20th Century Fox's comedy "Neighborhood Watch," but both exited the project, according to Variety. The film follows a city guy who moves to suburbia, joins the neighborhood watch, and quickly uncovers a major conspiracy.

• This is just a rumor at this point, but according to TVNZ, Katie Holmes has been approached to star in "Sex and the City 2." Apparently, Holmes would play big-time company executive who will clash with Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones. I'll believe it when I see her on the screen.

• Earlier this year we found out Fox is prepping "Hitman 2," and according to ComingSoon, Timothy Olyphant said he may return as Agent 47 if the studio wanted him back. "If they want me to do another one, I supposed they could have me, yes," he said.
