Christian Bale to possibly board Aronofsky's 'Noah'

Although director Darren Aronofsky is busy trying to gather funding for his future take on the story of Noah's Ark, First Showing is reporting that he is at work trying to attach actor Christian Bale to the project as well.

While the ambitious project is currently set up at New Regency, the $130 million needed to get this thing off of the ground will require the help from another studio, and Aronofsky is currently shopping the film around town.

If Aronofsky is able to secure Bale, who is still a hot item after snatching an Oscar for his role in "The Fighter," it should make his pursuit for more funding a bit easier.

Darren Aronofsky's 'Noah' coming together?

Darren Aronofsky's got a very ambitious project he'd love to bring to the screen: his own take on the whole Noah's Ark thing. He's trying to shop the project around town at the moment, and Deadline reports the film looks to be shaping up.

Only possible bump along the road: Aronofsky wants $130 million to bring the film to the screen. He's aiming big for sure. Aronofsky wrote the script, which John Logan is now rewriting. Word is New Regency may be interested in co-financing.

Of course, Aronofsky has a shot at getting what he wants, considering his "Black Swan" turned into a huge success around the world. Additionally, everybody's convinced he'd be able to create quite a compelling world for this story. Developing...

Disney & Warner Bros. in pursuit of Darren Aronosfky

Still riding the success of "Black Swan", director Darren Aronosfky is now being approached to helm two major projects. After recently dropping out of directing the "Wolverine" sequel for 20th Century Fox, Aronofsky now has some time on his hands that Disney Pictures and Warner are both hoping to fill.

The folks at Disney are looking for the director to take on "Maleficent," which covers the story of "Sleeping Beauty" told from the witch's perspective, while Warner is running after him for its "Moses" project, a biblical drama about Moses' attempt to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.  (via Dark Horizons)

Hugh Jackman says 'Wolverine 2' will be great

Hugh Jackman seemed to be in a good mood when Vulture recently caught up with him and asked him about his upcoming sequel "X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2," which Darren Aronofsky is going to direct.

"It’s going to be the best one, I hope," he said. "Well, I would say that, but I really do feel that, and I feel this is going to be very different." Different sounds goos, because the first one could've been better...

On Aronofsky directing, Jackman said, "[Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”

Christopher McQuarrie ("The Usual Suspects") wrote the script, and the story follows Logan (Jackman) in Japan, where he kicks off a romance with a woman promised to another dude. Shooting begins 2011.

Darren Aronofsky to direct 'Wolverine 2'?

Okay, so Darren Aronofsky ("The Wrestler") wasn't picked to direct the new "Superman" as we now know, but apparently, he's got a shot at helming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2." That's what Vulture says.

The site says folks at 20th Century Fox have offered Aronofsky the gig. The thing is that the director has a bunch of other offers as well, which means we know anything for sure until he makes a decision.

Another project Aronofsky is looking at is "Tales from the Gangster Squad," which Warner offered to Ben Affleck. Vulture says Affleck passed on that one, and now the studio wants Aronofsky on the case.

Darren Aronofsky on 'Superman' list?

The list of potentional "Superman" directors is growing, because Darren Aronofsky is the latest to be considered by Christopher Nolan, who acts as producer and mentor on the new Man of Steel project.

Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, Duncan Jones and Zack Snyder are all in the running, and so is Aronofsky, according to Heat Vision. Ben Affleck was on the list as well, but he pulled out.

Some of these candidates would definitely get me excited about a new "Superman," and Darren Aronofsky is definitely an interesting pick as well. He just helmed "Black Swan," which opens soon.

Awesome trailer for 'Black Swan' arrives!

Wow! Here is the first trailer for Darren Aronofsky's upcoming thriller "Black Swan," and it looks pretty darn intriguing in my book. Watch it after the jump and I will guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Natalie Portman plays an experienced ballerina who's having a hard time dealing with a rival dancer (Mila Kunis). As the story develops, Portman's character is not sure whether what she experiences is real.

Sounds weird, and as this preview shows, it looks weird. Still, "Black Swan" seems to be a beautifully photographed film filled with great performances and a mysterious plot, and that's how I like it.

Angelina Jolie to team with Darren Aronofsky?

Angelina Jolie with a gun

Angelina Jolie and Darren Aronofsky could team up for a big-screen adaptation of Ron Rash's novel "Serena: A Novel." We've heard quite a few news and rumors about upcoming Jolie projects recently, but it seems she's seriously interested to star in this project. Aronofsky would helm.

The Hollywood Reporter says Chris Kyle wrote the script. The story is set in North Carolina in 1929 and follows a couple's efforts to create a timber empire. The wife, Serena, is a ruthless woman, and when she finds out she can't have children, she heads out to kill her husband's son.

Jolie recently dropped out of "Wanted 2," and while it seemed the project was dead, I now hear it could still be alive. Aronofsky, the guy who recently helmed "The Wrestler," has "Black Swan" coming up next. Jolie will sono star in the thriller "Salt."

Winona Ryder in Aronofsky's 'Black Swan'?

Darren Aronofsky is still recruting some ladies for his upcoming supernatural thriller "Black Swan," and the latest to join the party: Winona Ryder. Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman are also on board.

Portman plays an experienced ballerina who's having a hard time dealing with a rival dancer (Kunis). As the story develops, Portman's character is not exactly sure whether what she sees and experiences is real.
