Daniel Craig to check into 'Dream House'

Daniel Craig is in early talks to star in "Dream House," a psychological thriller Jim Sheridan is expected to direct for Morgan Creek.

David Loucka ("Borderline") wrote the script, which follows a man and his family as they move to a peaceful town and discover their new home is haunted by its former inhabitants.

Even though I don't have any other details as far as the story is concerned, this just sounds like something we've seen a gazillion times already, right? I mean, how many recent 'haunted house' flicks actually delivered the goods?

Anyway, Craig recently starred in "Quantum of Solace" and "Defiance." He will also lend his voice to Red Rackham in Steven Spielberg's upcoming "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn."

Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig board 'Tintin' adaptation

Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment today announced Jamie Bell will play Tintin in Steven Spielberg's upcoming 3D motion capture film "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn," which has officially started production.

Also joining the cast is Daniel Craig, who will portray Red Rackham. Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook are already on board.

Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish wrote the script for this first film, which Spielberg is directing and Peter Jackson is co-producing. Jackson is set to direct the second flick in the upcoming series.

Bell's credits include "Billy Elliot," "King Kong" and "Jumper." He is currently onscreen alongside Craig in "Defiance." The guy's got talent, and I'm sure he'll do just fine portraying the famous young reporter created by Herge.

If you have no clue who popular Tintin really is, here is some extra info from the official press release:

"The Adventures of Tintin - a series of 24 books, the final unfinished adventure was published after Herge's death - became Herge's life's work. The first adventure was published in 1929. Over 200 million copies have been sold worldwide. The popular series has been translated into 70 languages and still attracts thousands of new fans each year."

Yep, I always adored "Tintin," and I'm certainly looking forward to this flick, which is currently scheduled to open in 2011.

New 'Defiance' clip debuts online

Yahoo recently released a brand-new clip from Edward Zwick's upcoming war drama "Defiance," which is due in theaters Jan. 16, 2009.

In the film, Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell and George MacKay play Jewish brothers who escape into the forest and join a group of Russian resistance fighters battling the Nazis.

You can check out the short clip below. Looks like Craig and Schreiber have solid performances in store for us, although I am still not quite sure about those accents.

As for Edward Zwick, he also directed "Blood Diamond" and "The Last Samurai." To be honest, I am looking much more forward to "Defiance" than Bryan Singer's "Valkyrie." How about you?

Review: "Quantum of Solace" - Joseph's Take

Seen on: November 14, 2008

The players: Director: Marc Forster, Writers: Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Paul Haggis, Cast: Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Giannini, Jesper Christensen, Mathieu Amalric

Facts of interest: "Quantum of Solace" is the 22nd official Bond flick.

The plot: This time, James Bond (Daniel Craig) tries to stop a ruthless businessman from taking over one of thr world's most precious natural resources.

Our thoughts: When we last left James Bond (Daniel Craig), he had just found out that the first woman he ever gave his heart to had betrayed him. You do not get James Bond to feel something and then walk all over that newfound vulnerability. You just don’t do that and, if you knew how hard it was for this particular brand of man to get there to begin with, you couldn’t do it with any good conscience.

'Quantum of Solace' web reviews

I've talked to quite a few people who saw Marc Forster's "Quantum of Solace," and views sure differ on this one. I personally enjoyed the new James Bond flick a lot, and you can read my review here. But what other online critics have to say about Daniel Craig's latest 007 adventure? Let's find out:

Joblo's Chris Bumbray: "Some of the action scenes are stunning (such as another parkour inspired chase/fight near the start of the film) - but they’re also VERY hard to follow, and a little too BOURNE-like for my taste."

• Scott Weinberg at Cinematical: "Craig continues to excel as a gruff hero worth watching -- and his knack in the action scenes simply can't be knocked -- and there's more than enough here to recommend 'Quantum of Solace' as an above-average action film."

• Cinema Blend's Josh Tyler: "It doesn’t matter why Bond does what he does, his supposed inner suffering is the movie’s excuse for everything, including numerous instances of inexplicable behavior."

Review: “Quantum of Solace” – Franck’s Take

Seen on: November 14, 2008

The players: Director: Marc Forster, Writers: Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Paul Haggis, Cast: Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Giancarlo Giannini, Jesper Christensen, Mathieu Amalric

Facts of interest: This is the 22nd official Bond flick.

The plot: This time, James Bond (Daniel Craig) tries to stop a ruthless businessman from taking over one of thr world's most precious natural resources.

Our thoughts: Marc Forster’s “Quantum of Solace” introduces viewers to a Bond different from others; one that some will applaud and others will disapprove of. I completely agree that this 22nd official James Bond adventure drastically diverges from the conventions of most of its predecessors, but that doesn’t automatically make it a bad film.
