'New Moon' beats 'Harry Potter' at midnight

New Moon with Bella and Jacob

The vampires and wolves defeated the young wizard at the North American box office Thursday night, as "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" bagged a solid $26.27 million from midnight screenings yesterday.

Indeed, "New Moon" beat the record set by "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," which brought in $22.2 million from midnight screenings. That's quite an impressive start for the "Twilight" sequel.

Additionally, "New Moon" should easily blow up the box office this weekend, as the Chris Weitz-directed film is now playing in 4,024 theaters, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

'Twilight Saga: New Moon' - What did you think?

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in New Moon

First of all, here is the reaction I experienced from a sold-out crowd at a midnight showing yesterday of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," when the Summit logo showed up: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Good job Summit, you've got millions of Twilighters on your side. Anyway, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are back in the sequel to "Twilight," and I want to know what you all thought...

I personally didn't enjoy the film, even though I laughed a lot. How about you guys? Did you love it? Hate it? Please leave all your comments and thoughts below, and as usual, don't curse too much.

'New Moon' already a hit overseas!

Chris Weitz's "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" has not yet officially kicked off its North American run in theatres, but the film is already scoring money and setting new records in several overseas markets.

Early numbers are in already, and the Hollywood Reporter says the sequel to "Twilight" has scored $1.6 million from midnight screenings in Australia. That's better than what "Star Wars: Episode III" bagged in '05.

Moving on, "New Moon" picked up $4.26 million in France on opening day, compared to $1.1 million earned by "Twilight." Wow! In Italy, it generated $2.7 million, and in Spain, it grabbed $2.2 million.

'New Moon' beats all Fandango advance sales

Kristen Stewart in New Moon

No, this is not a joke. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is now officially the top-selling pre-release title in Fandango's 10-year history. The upcoming "Twilight" sequel beat the record Saturday evening.

Chris Weitz's "New Moon" is currently grabbing 86% of weekly ticket sales at the online ticket shop. Thousands of Thursday midnight screenings are already sold out, but tickets to showings are still avaliable.

"For many fans, it's clearly the year's most anticipated film event," said Rick Butler, Fandango chief operating officer. "Ever since tickets went on sale on August 31, it's been among our top five weekly ticket-sellers, as 'New Moon' has a strong pull on audiences."

He said, "We're seeing a higher-than-usual number of tickets per transaction for this film, suggesting that moviegoers will show up en masse at theaters this weekend with their friends and family."

Ouch! Bella bleeds in new 'New Moon' clip

New Moon

It's another bright day for Twilighters, because MTV has just released a brand-new clip from Chris Weitz's upcoming "Twilight" sequel "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." Check it out after the jump.

And yes, Bella (Kristen Stewart) does bleed in this one-minute clip, which shows her enjoying some awkward time with the Cullen clan, including her vampire sweetheart Edward (Robert Pattinson).

As you know by now, the vamps adore blood and all, which makes this particular situation even more awkward. Poor Bella! In fact, this whole clip just feels a little awkward to me, but see for yourself.

The Volturi fight in new 'New Moon' clip

New Moon

Yes my dear Twilighters, a new, action-packed clip from Chris Weitz's upcoming "Twilight" sequel "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" has found its way to the Web, and you can check it out after the jump.

Basically, this is a clip from a scene in which the Volturi start kicking ass. Kristen Stewart, as usual, looks very concerned, Michael Sheen looks incredibly freaky and Robert Pattinson jumps at a guy.

The footage looks good and all, but I hope Weitz doesn't overdo it with slow-motion moments. Other than that, it already looks like "New Moon" will be more action-packed than its decent predecessor.

Ahhhh! Three fresh posters for 'New Moon' hit!

I was wondering what was going on with "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." I mean, unless I missed something big, I haven't heard much about the film recently. Now, my little break from the "Twilight" madness is over.

Three new posters for the Chris Weitz-directed sequel hit the Web today, so be sure to check them out after the jump. They feature all of your favorite groups from vampireland in single one-sheets. Neat, right?

First up are lovers Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart with the rest of the bloodsucker gang. Next up are the creepy Volturi folks, and to top it off, how about wrapping up with the strong Wolf Pack?

Final 'New Moon' trailer now finally online

The new and final trailer for Chris Weitz's "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" has officially been released on the Web, so make sure you check it out after the jump. It premiered tonight at the VMAs, and it's finally here in solid quality.

To be honest, this trailer gets me a bit excited. I'm not a "Twilight" fan and never read any of the books, but it looks like we're in for a lot more action in the "Twilight" sequel. I also didn't particularly enjoy the first film, but this entertaining trailer and the fact that Weitz directed the film get my hopes up for this one.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in New Moon promo shots

Just hours before the official premiere of the new trailer for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," the folks at Yahoo! Movies posted a series of new promo photos from the upcoming Chris Weitz-directed sequel. You can check out two of them in solid quality after the jump.

A few bootleg versions of the trailer hit the Web yesterday, but most of them are gone. Not to worry though, because the trailer will land online in great quality later today. I will put up an entry with it as soon as it's live, so make sure you check back if you haven't seen it yet.
