Noam Murro will direct 'Die Hard 5'

The new "Die Hard 5" is coming together, and 20th Century Fox has found the guy to direct the latest installment in the popular action series: Noam Murro. Who's Murro, you may ask? Well, he's the guy who directed "Smart People," a wonderful indie dramedy starring Ellen Page and Dennis Quaid.

Deadline Hollywood says Murro will collaborate with Skip Woods on the latter's script. No other dates in relation to this production have been announced yet, and Bruce Willis still has to officially come on board. "Live Free of Die Hard" was the last film in the series, and it grossed $135 million in North America.

Seriously though, check out "Smart People" if you haven't already. It really took me by surprise.

Movie Review: "RED"

Seen on: October 16, 2010

The players: Director: Robert Schwentke, Writers: Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Cast: Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich

Facts of interest: Based on a graphic novel.

The plot: Bruce Willis plays a retired agent hunted by the CIA. As a result, he gathers his old team and attempts to stop the bad guys before they finish the job.

Our thoughts: Boasting a great cast capable of delivering both action and comedy, Robert Schwentke’s “RED” works just fine as a source of brainless big-screen entertainment. None of what the film has to offer should make you run outside proclaiming it’s the best movie of the year, but as long as you’re not taking anything in this thing too seriously, you may just have a good time with Bruce Willis and Co.

This week's new movie releases - Oct. 15, 2010

Opening this week in North American theaters are "Jackass 3D" with Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O and Bam Margera; and "Red," which stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich.

Jackass 3D: What can I say? I enjoyed the two previous "Jackass" flicks, and I'm definitely looking forward to watching Johnny Knoxville do the one thing he's really good at. Plus, the whole 3D effect will certainly add to the fun of the movie as well. My excitement rating: 7/10.

Red: No matter how ridiculous this film turns out to be, it boasts quite the awesome cast, and that's exactly what I'm excited about in "Red." That, and all the crazy action sequences along with a potentially solid dose of humor. Looks good for sure. My excitement rating: 7/10.

Emily Blunt joins Bruce Willis in 'Looper'

Emily Blunt is ready for some time-travel action. Blunt, who also stars in the upcoming "The Adjustment Bureau," has joined Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Rian Johnson's "Looper."

The film is an action flick in the time-travel genre. THR says the film follows Levitt as a Looper, a killer getting rid of people from the future. When he sees himself as a victim in the future, he goes nuts.

Okay, not exactly nuts, but he lets himself escape first before deciding to kill his future self in order to survive. it all sounds crazy confusing, but I admit I'm intrigued to see how it plays out in the end.

'Kane & Lynch' movie delayed

Lionsgate’s big-screen adaptation of the popular video game "Kane & Lynch" has hit a wall, as the studio is delaying the project because director Patrick Alessandrin has left the film, according to 24 Frames.

Alessandrin, who helmed "District 13: Ultimatum," was attached to direct, but sources said he's no longer involved. F. Gary Gray and Wayne Kramer were attached to the project previously as well.

"Kane & Lynch" centers on a character named Kane, a death row inmate who makes it out of prison and teams up with a medicated psychopath to retrieve a lost fortune. Kyle Ward wrote the screenplay.

Bruce Willis as bad guy in 'Expendables 2'?

Maybe it's a tad too early to talk sequel, but it seems Sylvester Stallone is very eager to get started on a follow-up to his hit action flick "The Expendables," which has been performing really well.

Sly mentioned the sequel twice on his Twitter today, posting the following: "Had dinner with Bruce Willis last night. I want him in EXPENDABLES II as a super villain. What do you think?" Seriously?

Okay, maybe it's not that far-fetched at all, considering Willis popped up in the first one and pretty much everything in that film is so over the top, it doesn't matter what crazy ideas Sly comes up with.

In regard to his second post, Sly's currently trying to find a very dangerous place to set the sequel. I wonder how long it will take him to bang out a script. Looks like "The Expendables II" is on the way.
