Amber Heard to lose clothes for 'Diary' role

Amber Heard is in talks to star alongside Johnny Depp in Bruce Robinson's "The Rum Diary," based on the book by Hunter S. Thompson.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, this is what Heard is up against:

"'Diary' will place Heard at the front and center of a love triangle in the tale of a washed-up, hard-drinking journalist named Paul Kemp (Depp) in 1950s Puerto Rico. Heard will play Chenault, the free-spirited girlfriend of a fellow journalist who cheats on him with Kemp, trying to convince him to run away with her."

Sounds interesting enough. The trade also says other actresses were looking at the role, although some were a bit concerned about the required nudity. Heard, however, doesn't seem to have a problem with that.

Besides her role in "Alpha Dog," Heard also starred in "Remember the Daze." Can't say I liked the movie a lot, but her looks made it watchable enough. She also played Seth Rogen's girlfriend in "Pineapple Express."

By the way, Thompson also wrote the book "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," which made it to the big screen with Depp in the role of Raoul Duke.

'Rum Diary' could be next for Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp has quite a few projects coming up in the near future, and the next one he may be part of is Bruce Robinson's "The Rum Diary," based on the book by Hunter S. Thompson.

The folks at the Bad and Ugly recently got a hold of a casting call that suggests Depp is already part of the flick, which is scheduled to head into production this March.

This document has Depp down for the role of Paul Kemp, a divorced and alcoholic novelist who works for a daily newspaper that’s on its last legs, drinks gallons of rum, and enjoys experimenting with LSD.

Kemp also falls in love with someone named Chenault, the role the filmmakers are currently trying to fill.

Depp will be seen later this year in "Public Enemies" and "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." He will also star in Tim Burton's new take on "Alice in Wonderland."

By the way, Thompson also wrote the book "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," which made it to the big screen with Depp in the role of Raoul Duke.
