New trailer for 'Apollo 18' lands online

Gonzalo López-Gallego's delayed thriller "Apollo 18" is now set for release Sept. 2, 2011, and a new trailer has found its way online. Check it out after the jump. Looks like "Paranormal Activity" or "The Blair Witch Project" on the moon or something.

Still, sometimes, these 'lost footage' flicks deliver some scares, and I hope this one has a few of them to offer. The film follows two American astronauts who were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense.

Oh, and Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted," "9") is a producer for the film, by the way.

Trailer for 'Apollo 18' thriller now online

The new trailer for "Apollo 18" has just hit the Web, and you can watch it right after the jump. No, it's not a sequel to "Apollo 13." Instead, you can think of it as a "Paranormal Activity" type thriller set on the moon. The film, helmed by Gonzalo López-Gallego, will hit theaters April 22, 2011.

Officially, Apollo 17 was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. This film features the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission.

The concept of "Paranormal Activity" is quickly growing old, which means "Apollo 18" has a tough mission in terms of satisfying audiences. That said, the setting of the moon may actually give the film the claustrophobic feel it will need to keep us engaged. At this time, I have mixed feelings about this one.

Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson is 'Caught in the Crossfire'

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Chris Klein, Adam Rodriguez and Richard T. Jones are set to star in Brian Miller's upcoming directorial debut "Caught in the Crossfire." Written by Miller, the police drama follows two homicide detectives who find themselves caught in a tough homicide case involving a group of corrupt cops. Variety says Jackson plays an informant.

Jackson is no stranger to the genre. He most recently starred opposite Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino in "Righteous Kill." The musician-turned-actor has a bunch of other projects lined up, including "Streets of Blood," "13" and "Jekyll and Hyde." Klein recently starred in "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li," while Rodriguez has been busy on "CSI: Miami." Jones starred in "Vantage Point."
