Jackie Robinson biopic in the works

Baseball fans, get ready, because Legendary Pictures has announced it's developing a film about Jackie Robinson, the first African American Major League Baseball player. Brian Hegeland ("The Order," "A Knight's Tale") is set to direct and former Walt Disney Studios Chair Dick Cook will be the executive producer.

This is not the first time someone has tried to bring Robinson's story to cinemas. In fact, Spike Lee once tried to direct a film about the baseball star with Denzel Washington as the lead. Robert Redford has been trying to breathe life into this story for many years as well. Only time will tell if Legendary Pictures can finally make it happen. (Via Deadline)

Check out Angelina Jolie in first 'Salt' pics

Columbia Pictures' spy thriller "Salt" heads into principal photography this week, and Sony has released a first look at Angelina Jolie in the title role.

In the film directed by Philip Noyce, Jolie stars as Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy. Trying to clear her name, Salt embarks on a perilous mission to prove she's loyal to her country.

Also starring are Liev Schreiber, who plays Salt's boss. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays a CIA counter-intelligence officer. Kurt Wimmer wrote the original script, with Brian Helgeland having done a rewrite.

ComingSoon has provided the nice shot you can see below. You can check a second one in full size right here.

Tom Cruise was originally attached to star in the film, but when he dropped out and Jolie joined the project, the lead role had to be rewritten for her.
