Smile! New 'Ghost Protocol' clip boasts humor

A new clip from Brad Bird's new "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" adventure has surfaced on the Web, and it features Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg having quite the humorous discussion about an upcoming mission. Be advised, this one contains witty dialogue.

"Protocol," the latest and probably not the last installment in the series also stars Tom Cruise, who will sort of pass on the torch to Renner. If this flick succeeds at the box office, and I believe it will, Renner could take over in future sequels. Also part of the cast: Paula Patton.

Besides the crazy action and freakingly awesome stunts, one thing I am looking forward to in this flick is the acting. "Protocol" features a strong cast, and the clip above strongly suggests the performances will make this an even more enjoyable experience.

"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" infiltrates theaters Dec. 21, 2011, and I am ready!

'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' trailer is here!

The first trailer for Brad Bird's upcoming "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" has just hit the Web, and it looks pretty darn awesome. If this one really works out, it could mark the relaunch of a pretty popular franchise that fans will want to see grow.

Anyway, check out the explosive preview after the jump. Tom Cruise is back in action as Ethan Hunt, and Jeremy Renner plays the guy who would be taking over the series. Tha cast also features Paula Patton, Simon Pegg, Josh Holloway and Ving Rhames.

"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" will open Dec. 16, 2011. Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum wrote the script, but J.J. Abrams contributed ideas as well. Either way, this looks like one hell of an entertaining blockbuster, so count me among those excited about it.

'Mission: Impossible IV' gets weird new title

New title for Mission: Impossible 4

It looks like "Mission: Impossible IV" now has its final title (for now at least). At a news conference in Dubai earlier today, Tom Cruise said the sequel will be titled "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol." Huh?

Sounds quite awkward, I know, but that's what we have to get used to now. AFP reported the news about the fourth film in the franchise. The flick is currently shooting in Dubai, with Moscow to follow soon.

"One of the things that I always wanted with the franchise was for it to not have a number afterwards, because I haven't made sequels of films, and I never really thought of these films as sequels," Cruise said.

Paramount Pictures will release "Ghost Protocol" in theaters December 2011. Brad Bird is directing the film, which also stars Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Josh Holloway, Paula Patton and Ving Rhames.

Look: Tom Cruise on 'Mission: Impossible IV' set

Tom Cruise is in Prague, and he's shooting Brad Bird's upcoming action sequel "Mission: Impossible IV." First photos from the set have arrived on the Web, and you can check some of them out right here.

Jeremy Renner, Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Josh Holloway and Paula Patton co-star in the film. The photos here aren't very exciting (and they're bad quality), but they show Cruise in diguise.

Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum wrote the script for "Mission: Impossible 4," and J.J. Abrams helped out with some ideas as well. The pics popped up online at Accidental Sexiness. Click for more shots...

Paula Patton is the 'Mission: Impossible IV' girl

Paul Patton has been cast to star alongside Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner in Brad Bird's upcoming "Mission: Impossible IV," a film Paramount hopes will act as a reboot of the popular action franchise.

Deadline reported the news yesterday, saying the film won't be titled "Mission: Impossible IV" after all. Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, and Renner will play a young operative learning from the master.

Patton last appeared in "Just Wright," in which she starred alongside Queen Latifah. She also starred in "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire," "Mirrors", "Swing Vote" and "Deja Vu."

Simon Pegg back for 'Mission: Impossible IV'

Simon Pegg is a funny dude

How about some more "Mission: Impossible IV" news? Word is Simon Pegg may return as Benji in Brad Bird's upcoming "Mission: Impossible" sequel. Paramount may launch the film into production very soon.

Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum wrote the script, and J.J. Abrams is back on board to produce. Tom Cruise is back as well, and word is Ethan Hunt will train a young operative this time around. We'll see...

Funny man Pegg, who also starred in Abrams' "Star Trek," will soon be seen in Greg Mottola's "Paul." He's also part of the cast of "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn." (Source: Heat Vision)

What's up with 'Mission: Impossible IV'?

Here is a quick update on "Mission: Impossible IV," which Brad Bird is supposed to helm for a release planned next year: it looks like Paramount is trying to figure out how to shoot it with a reasonable budget.

Deadline Hollywood says there's talk of having Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt train a young operative this time around. Ideas like this one are coming up after the rather poor performance of "Knight and Day."

Personally, I think "Mission: Impossible IV" would still pull large audiences with the focus staying on Cruise, but you never know. Cinemagoers do indeed get tired of certain folks every now and then.

'Incredibles' director doing next 'Mission: Impossible'?

Brad Bird could be moving from Pixar to "Mission: Impossible IV." Heat Vision says the director of "The Incredibles" and "Ratatouille" is now a contender in the search for a director for the fourth installment in the action series, which reunites Tom Cruise with producer J.J. Abrams. The film already has a release date of May 27, 2011, and the race for a helmer is speeding up in an attempt to start shooting soon.

Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") and Edgar Wright ("Scott Pilgrim vs. the World") have also been in talks with Abrams, apparently. I personally like the idea of Bird doing this thing. It would mark his first live-action feature, but with "The Incredibles," he has shown he's not afraid to create superb action. And hey, that's that this franchise is now all about, right? Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec wrote the script for "IV."
