Movie Review: “Obsessed”

Seen on: April 25, 2009

The players: Director: Steve Shill, Writer: David Loughery, Cast: Beyonce Knowles, Idris Elba, Ali Larter, Jerry O'Connell, Christine Lahti

Facts of interest: None at all.

The plot: A successful asset manager gets into a bunch of trouble when his temp start to stalk him.

Our thoughts: “Obsessed” is one of the worst thrillers I’ve seen in a very long time, but it certainly passes as a great comedy. To be honest, the utter ridiculousness of this mess of a movie really amused me, and I caught myself laughing quite often during the dreadful 105 minutes.

Posters for 'Obsessed,' 'Great Buck Howard'

Today, I picked up two new one-sheets on my poster radar:

The first one is for Steven Shill's upcoming thriller "Obsessed," which opens April 24, 2009 and stars Beyoncé Knowles, Idris Elba and Ali Larter.

The film focuses on a successful asset manager who's living a fabulous life until everything spins out of control when a sexy temp worker starts stalking him.

The poster you can check out below is not really original, but then again, the trailer for the film isn't that exciting either. In fact, if you want to see the entire movie in two minutes, watch the preview here. And how about that ridiculous tagline: "All's fair when love is war."

The second poster is for Sean McGinly's "The Greak Buck Howard," in which a young law student becomes the new assistant to a weirdo illusionist. The film stars Colin Hanks and his father Tom, as well as John Malkovich, Emily Blunt and Ricky Jay.

"Buck" opens March 20. 2009. Enjoy the new posters below.

Beyoncé kicks butt in 'Obsessed' trailer

I should warn you: if you're serious about wanting to watch "Obsessed" without knowing beforehand what's going to happen, you may want to skip this trailer, because it literally shows the whole film in two minutes.

Then again, that's often the case with these predictable thrillers. Anyway, if you don't care and would like to see Beyoncé Knowles fight with Ali Larter, enjoy the preview for Steve Shill's upcoming flick after the jump.

In the flick, Derek Charles (Idris Elba), a successful asset manager who has just received a huge promotion, is blissfully happy in his career and in his marriage to the beautiful Beth (Knowles). But when Lisa (Larter), a temp worker, starts stalking Derek, everything he's worked so hard for, are placed in jeopardy.

Yeah, as I said, this one doesn't particularly innovative or suspenseful. If you've got a thing for either one of the leading ladies, however, you may want to give it a try when the film opens April 24, 2009.
