Bad news: Mike Meyers writing ‘Austin Powers 4’

After the failure that was “The Love Guru,” Mike Myers quickly needs a hit, and according to Deadline Hollywood Daily, he thinks he’s going to score one with a fourth “Austin Powers” movie.

According to an insider, Myers is already working on the script for the fourth installment of the series, which kicked off with “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” in 1997. Two films followed in ’99 and ‘02, and they each brought in more than $200 million domestically.

Apparently, this sequel will pay tribute to Myers’ father. That’s not exactly a treat, considering the film will largely focus on Austin’s villain Dr. Evil and his relationship with his son Scott Evil (played previously by Seth Green).

Over at DHD, an insider told Nikki Finke, "It's very personal with a father and son theme loosely based on his own life.”

Another “Austin Powers”? No thanks. Especially not if Myers’ screenwriting is as crappy as in “The Love Guru.”
