Sandra Bullock reteams with Anne Fletcher

"The Proposal" was Bullock's best movie last year, and it looks like Bullock worked so well with director Anne Fletcher on the project that the Oscar-winning actress wants another collaboration between them.

THR says Bullock and Fletcher will develop an untitled Warner Bros. movie. Details are scarce right now, but the film is referred to as a project in vein of "An Unmarried Woman" and "Saturday Night Fever."

Oh, and Bullock will also executive produce. The actress is in talks to star in "Gravity," and she also has "most Wanted" coming up. That one is also directed by Fletcher and reunites her with Ryan Reynolds.

Going back in time, read my review of "The Proposal" right here. Still a charming comedy.

Disney confirms 'Enchanted' sequel is in the works

Disney's princess tale "Enchanted" moves to round two! The studio has confirmed a sequel, and Anne Fletcher ("The Proposal") is attached to direct a script Jessie Nelson ("I Am Sam") will write.

Plot details remain unknown for now, but "Enchanted 2" may hit theaters as early as next year, according to Variety. The original starred Amy Adams, James Marsden, Patrick Dempsey and Susan Sarandon.

Word is Disney may try to bring back the original cast as well. Of course, I certainly do hope at least Adams will return. She completely owned the first film, and her role obviously helped her break out as well.

I am certainly among those who really enjoyed "Enchanted," so I wouldn't mind watching a sequel, even though I believe the element of surprise is now gone. Let's hope Disney won't mess this one up.

'The Proposal' web reviews

Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds first hate, then love each other in Anne Fletcher's romantic comedy "The Proposal," and here is what some of the Web's critics have to say about it (read my review here):

Collider's Matt Goldberg: "Despite its rushed opening and rocky finish, 'The Proposal' is a romantic comedy that doesn’t break any new ground but works well as a date film because of Bullock and Reynolds’ terrific performances."

• Brad Brevet at RopeOfSilicon: "This film simply misses its mark. It happens, and with a conceit like this I'm not really surprised."

Latino Review's Ron Henriques: "Bullock and Reynolds work rather nicely together with and without friction and when the story turns towards that familiar conclusion, it isn't as painful as you would think and may even put a smile on your face."

CinemaBlend's Josh Tyler: "Director Anne Fletcher handles her film with a light, self-aware touch and the movie’s supporting characters make the most of their moments, enough to get us through the all too conventional rough patches."

Movie Review: “The Proposal”

Seen on: June 19, 2009

The players: Director: Anne Fletcher, Writer: Pete Chiarelli, Cast: Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, Denis O'Hare, Malin Akerman, Mary Steenburgen

Facts of interest: Anne Fletcher also directed "27 Dresses."

The plot: When a tough book editor (Bullock) faces deportation to Canada, she forces her assistant (Reynolds) into a marriage of convenience.

Our thoughts: Say yes to “The Proposal,” and you won’t be disappointed. Anne Fletcher’s latest romantic comedy doesn’t really bring anything new to the genre, but its light plot, decent humor and charming cast led by Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds all make for a highly entertaining film that’s very easy to enjoy.

Sandra Bullock in 'The Proposal' trailer

Sandra Bullock returns to the big screen, and this time she forces Ryan Reynolds to marry her. Here comes the bribe indeed...

In Anne Fletcher's new comedy "The Proposal," Bullock plays a difficult boss who persuades her assistant to marry her so she can keep her visa status and avoid being deported back to Canada.

You can check out the first trailer for the film after the jump. Not sure what to think about it at this stage, but Bullock looks like she's in a great shape.

Fletcher's directing credits also include "Step Up" and "27 Dresses." "The Proposal" opens June 12, 2009. Enjoy.
