Anna Faris joins Williams in 'Wedding Banned'

Anna Faris

Anna Faris is in talks to join Robin Williams in Touchstone's upcoming romantic comedy "Wedding Banned." No director is on board yet, but Jack Amiel and Michael Begler wrote the script.

The film follows a divorced couple (Williams) kidnapping their daughter on her wedding day to prevent her from doing the same mistake they did. The Hollywood Reporter says Faris plays the daughter.

Faris recently voiced a character in "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," and before that, she starred in "Observe and Report." She's voicing a character in "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel."

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd set for 'Yogi Bear'

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake are the first to join the cast of Eric Brevig's upcoming "Yogi Bear" film for Warner Bros., which is prepping the project for a December shoot.

"Bear" will be a mix of CGI and live-action, much in the same way as the recent "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and "Garfield," two films that absolutely sucked (and looked terrible). It will be shot in 3D.

Crappy new trailer for 'Chipmunks' sequel hits

This holiday season at the movies is ruined, as Betty Thomas' "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" is set to tear apart the big screen when it opens Dec. 25, 2009. Here's a crappy new trailer for the sequel.

I still don't know how a mess such as "Alvin and the Chipmunks" could bag $217 million domestically, but it did, and here we are again, with the annoying chipmunks creating a mess, playing football and...

More great 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' clips

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

I'm really excited to see Phil Lord and Chris Miller's upcoming 3D animated adventure "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" in 3D Sept. 18, 2009, and I really enjoyed the several film clips I've seen so far.

Today, I stumbled across two more, and they sure made my mouth water. In the first one you can check out after the jump, main character Flint discovers his new invention actually works.

Daily news dose: Two more join 'Iron Man 2;' Kevin Macdonald to direct 'Eternity'

Here's your dose of film news for April 23, 2009:

• Kate Mara ("Shooter") and Clark Gregg ("Spartan") are the latest to join Jon Favreau's upcoming sequel "Iron Man 2," which is currently shooting. Gregg will return to reprise his role as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Agent Phil Coulson. No details have been released regarding Mara's role. (The Hollywood Reporter)

• Kevin Macdonald, who last directed the intriguing thriller "State of Play," is set to direct "The End of Eternity" for New Regency. According to Variety, the film is based on the 1955 Isaac Asimov novel. According to the trade, "Futuristic tale concerns a ruling class called Eternity whose members can manipulate time and alter history." Macdonald also directed "The Last King of Scotland."

• Mark Mylod ("Ali G Indahouse") will direct "What's Your Number?," a comedy starring Anna Faris. The film was previously titled "20 Times a Lady," and the plot follows a woman who revisits her sexual past and explores whether the number of men she slept with will somehow have an effect on her quest to find Mr. Right. (THR)

• The folks at Bloody-Disgusting report that Rooney Mara ("Youth in Revolt") is in talks to star in New Line Cinema's "A Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot. Jackie Earle Haley and Kyle Gallner are also on board.

Movie Review: “Observe and Report”

Seen on: April 10, 2009

The players: Director: Jody Hill, Writer: Jody Hill, Cast: Seth Rogen, Anna Faris, Michael Pena, Ray Liotta, Jesse Plemons

Facts of interest: Jody Hill also directed "The Foot Fist Way."

The plot: Seth Rogen plays a mall security guard who desperately wants to become a real cop.

Our quick thoughts: Jody Hill’s “Observe and Report” is a crass, violent and a times hilarious comedy. It’s a weird little film starring Seth Rogen in a role quite different from what he’s done so far, and to be honest, I found it both daring and intriguing. Some will adore it, and others will hate it, but I admit I had a great time watching Rogen play an unstable mall cop who will stop at nothing to fulfill his dream.

'Observe and Report' web reviews

Seth Rogen returns to the big screen in Jody Hill's latest comedy "Observe and Report," in which he plays a bad-ass mall security guard who has a thing for Anna Faris and tries to bring down a nasty flasher. Michael Pena, Ray Liotta, Jesse Plemons co-star, and here is what the Web's critics think about the flick:

Latino Review's Ron Henriques: "You're looking in the wrong place if you're in the mood for more of Rogen's clever social observations and camaraderie amongst equally witty friends. Many of these characters have no redeeming qualities and just about all of them are almost as weird as Ronnie."

Cinema Blend's Josh Tyler: "It’s a celebration of savagery and madness, the story of a man who’s a hero in his own head."

Joblo's JimmyO: "For Jody Hill, this latest offering is a stronger feature than 'Foot Fist.' Yet the previous film had a bit more going for it in the originality department."

Film School Rejects' Neil Miller: "Put simply, this is one of those films that is as polarizing as they come, splitting both critics and audiences down the middle. If you dig on Jody Hill’s brand of humor, a very dark and aggressive brand of story set to a heavy rocking soundtrack (that is awesome, by the way), then you are going to love this film."

Anna Faris picks two new projects

Anna Faris' last comedy "The House Bunny" sucked big time, but that won't stop the actress from keeping busy with new projects.

The Hollywood Reporter says Faris is attached to star in Columbia's "20 Times a Lady," a romantic comedy written by Jennifer Crittenden and Gabrielle Allan.

In the film, a woman revisits her sexual past and explores whether the number of men she slept with will somehow have an effect on her quest to find Mr. Right.

In addition to "Lady," Faris is also working on a comedy with Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, the screenwriters of "The House Bunny."

The trade says the untitled Paramount film focuses on two estranged sisters who get together to find a husband.

Faris has three other projects opening next year: "Young Americans," "Observe and Report" and "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."

Bill Hader, Anna Faris to taste ‘Meatballs’

Bill Hader and Anna Faris are set to voice the leads in Sony Pictures Animations’s upcoming 3D project “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,” according to Variety.

Mr. T, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Tracy Morgan and Bruce Campbell are already on board. Not bad for a voice cast.

The film, which is based on Judi Barrett’s popular children’s book, focuses on a group of characters living in a town where food falls from the sky just like rain. Imagine how cool this would look like in live-action flick.

The trade says Hader will play a character trying to invent something that could improve everybody’s life. Faris voices a weathergirl covering the strange happening.

Chris Miller and Phil Lord are directing their own script. If all goes well, the film is expected to hit theaters early 2010.

Bill Hader recently completed Greg Mottola’s “Adventureland.” Faris is currently onscreen in “The House Bunny.”

Review: "The House Bunny"

Seen on: August 23, 2008

The players: Director: Fred Wolf, Writers: Karen McCullah Lutz, Kirsten Smith, Cast: Anna Faris, Katharine McPhee, Emma Stone, Rumer Willis, Kat Dennings

Facts of interest: Karen McCullah Lutz, Kirsten Smith also wrote "Ella Enchanted" and "Legally Blonde."

The plot: After Shelley (Faris) is tossed out of the Playboy mansion, she becomes the housemother of an unpopular sorority.

Our quick thoughts: Fred Wolf’s latest comedy “The House Bunny” is nothing but a simple mixture of “Legally Blonde” and “Sydney White.” But don’t get me wrong; as long as they offer me something creative I haven’t see plenty of times already, I really don’t have anything against screenwriters copying characters or entire story lines from previous films. In this case, however, most of what I ended up seeing turned out to be a little too familiar.
