Trailer for Hallström's 'Dear John' is here

Those who can't get enough of Nicholas Sparks' stories should rejoice. His novel "Dear John" will hit the big screen next year, and a first trailer for the love drama debuted on the Web just recently. See below.

In the flick, Amanda Seyfried plays a young woman falling in love with a solider (Channing Tatum) while he’s on leave. When he's deployed, however, the two try to maintain their relationship via love letters.

Also starring is Richard Jenkins, who plays John's father. Jamie Linden, who penned "We Are Marshall," wrote the screenplay. Lasse Hallström ("The Hoax," "Casanova") directed the film.

Movie Review: “Jennifer’s Body”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: September 14, 2009

The players: Director: Karyn Kusama, Writer: Diablo Cody, Cast: Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Simmons, J. K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris

Facts of interest: Diablo Cody also penned "Juno."

The plot: A sexy high school cheerleader (Megan Fox) starts running around eating every tasty boy she can find.

Our quick thoughts: To tell you the truth, Karyn Kusama’s horror flick “Jennifer’s Body” worked for me. It’s not a film that will make my list of this year’s best, but it successfully establishes a menacing atmosphere and tells an entertaining action-driven story about a hot high school chick devouring every tasty boy she comes across.

Solid 'Jennifer's Body' international poster

As the Sept. 18, 2009 release date of Karyn Kusama's "Jennifer's Body" is approaching, more promotional material for the film pops up every week. Here is a brand-new Spanish poster for the Diablo Cody-scripted horror flick, courtesy of Aullidos.

I personally prefer this one to the American one-sheet, which I've also attached for comparison. It looks a little sharper, and more provocative. In the film, Megan Fox plays a freak possessed by a demon that causes her to eat boys. Amanda Seyfried co-stars as a friend trying to put an end to the horror show.

Watch this 'Jennifer's Body' behind-the-scenes clip

Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body

I'm not quite sure what to make of Karyn Kusama's "Jennifer's Body," an upcoming horror flick written by "Juno" Oscar winner Diablo Cody. Sure, it's got Megan Fox playing a freak possessed by a demon that causes her to eat boys, but judging only by the footage I've seen so far, this one could as well tank big time.

For now though, let's enjoy the promotional material we get to see for the horror flick, which opens Sept. 18, 2009. After the jump, I invite you to check out a short behind-the-scenes clip, in which Fox, co-star Amanda Seyfried, Cody and Kusama briefly talk story and characters. I think you'll also stumble across a tiny bit of new footage.

Bloody trailer alert: Megan Fox in 'Jennifer's Body'

Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body

Megan Fox is having boys for breakfast, lunch and dinner in Karyn Kusama's "Jennifer's Body," an upcoming horror flick written by "Juno" Oscar winner Diablo Cody.

A Red Band trailer for the film just debuted online, and you can check it out below. If you're dying to see Fox practically undress and devour a guy or two, you should definitely give it a try.

Fox plays Jennifer Check, a cheerleader with the perfect life who becomes the girl from hell when she gets possessed and begins killing boys in a small town. Yummy to that!

Also starring is Amanda Seyfried, who plays Jennifer's friend and tries to put an end to the horror show. Johnny Simmons, Adam Brody, J.K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris and Cynthia Stevenson round out the cast.

The trailer makes the film look bloody, sexy and a bit awkward as well. Like I said before, the whole thing comes from the mind of Diabloe Cody, and that means we're in for something special. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Seyfried, Hudgens to star in 'Sucker Punch'

The release of "Watchmen" is not stopping Zack Snyder from working on his upcoming projects.

In fact, Snyder is busy casting "Sucker Punch," and according to the Hollywood Reporter, Amanda Seyfried is in negotiations to join the cast.

Also in talks to board the project are Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone. Interesting, interesting!

The fantasy action flick is set in the 1950s, and centers on a girl locked inside a mental institution. During her stay there, she imagines an alternative reality in which she plans her escape by trying to steal five objects she needs to regain her freedom.

The trade says Seyfried would play the lead character, while the others would star as her inmates, who will also show up in her imagined reality.

A film about a bunch of hot actresses locked up in a crazy house? Sounds fun and creepy at the same time, doesn't it?

Seyfried starred in the dreadful adaptation of "Mamma Mia!" Cornish, the star of the fantastic drama "Somersault," also played in "Stop-Loss." Stone recently appeared in "The Rocker."

Daily news dose: Naomi Watts joins Allen film; Seyfried to join 'Sucker'?

Here's your daily news dose for Feb. 23, 2009:

• Naomi Watts is the latest to join Woody Allen's latest film, which is currently untitled. Also on board are Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins. Plot details, as usual, are kept under wraps for now. Watts can currently be seen onscreen in "The International." (Variety)

• The folks at IESB sat down and talked to Zack Snyder about his upcoming flick "Sucker Punch," which is about to head into pre-production. According to Snyder, he's in talks with Amanda Seyfried to join the cast. By the way, the tagline over at IMDb describes the film as "'Alice in Wonderland' with machine guns." Whoa!

• John Cusack, Rob Corddry and Craig Robinson have apparently joined the cast of Sean Anders and John Morris' upcoming comedy "Hot Tub Time Machine," about a group of adults who visit a hot tub they once used and realize it can transport them back in time, to their younger selves. (Joblo)

• Alexandre Aja's "Piranha 3-D" will come, for sure, but you may have to wait for it a little longer. Filming on the remake Joe Dante's 1978 film has been delayed, and Aja recently told MTV News why: “We pushed production back to spring for weather reasons and location reasons.” Yeah, the weather's a sucker indeed!

Richard Jenkins joins ‘Dear John’ adaptation

Richard Jenkins has signed on to star in Lasse Hallstrom’s adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller “Dear John.”

Also on board is Amanda Seyfried, who plays a young woman falling in love with a solider (Channing Tatum) while he’s on leave.

The Hollywood Reporter says Jenkins is set to play Tatum’s father. The film is currently shooting, with Hallstrom directing a screenplay by Jamie Linden.

Jenkins most recently starred in Joel and Ethan Coen’s “Burn After Reading.” He also delivered a strong performance in Thomas McCarthy’s recent drama “The Visitor.”

Final word: Yeah, Jenkins truly is a fine actor, and I can only hope to see him around on the big screen more often.
