Movie Review: "Easy A"

Seen on: August 28, 2010

The players: Director: Will Gluck, Writer: Bert V. Royal, Cast: Emma Stone, Patricia Clarkson, Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, Dan Byrd, Alyson Michalka

Facts of interest: Will Gluck also helmed "Fired Up!"

The plot: Emma Stone plays a teenager spreading a lie about losing her virginity. Next thing you know, she's the center of attention at her high school...

Our thoughts: I’ll have to give “Easy A” a C. No, I didn’t exactly hate Will Gluck’s new comedy about a high-school chick spreading a bunch of lies, but the film simply failed to live up to my expectations. It’s definitely a step up from Gluck’s previous disaster “Fired Up!,” but when it comes to ideal comic timing, he’s not quite there yet. He’s close for sure, but this latest effort misses the mark a tad too often.

Emma Stone in Easy A, a decent film

Emma Stone is about to invade theaters with her new comedy "Easy A," and we've got eight brand-new clips from the Will Gluck-directed film, which opens Sept. 17, 2010. Watch them all after the jump.

After a little white lie about losing her virginity gets out, a clean cut high school girl (Stone) sees her life paralleling Hester Prynne's in "The Scarlet Letter," which she is currently studying in school...

I've seen it and can say that Emma Stone definitely delivers the goods, even though the story isn't quite as awesome as it sounds. That's all I can reveal for now. Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson co-star.

Amanda Bynes returns in 'Hall Pass'

The cast for Bobby and Peter Farrelly's upcoming comedy "Hall Pass" is still growing, and the latest to join the party is Amanda Bynes, who last starred on the big screen in the stupid teen flick "Sydney White."

The film follows a married couple hoping to spice up their relationship when the wife (Jenna Fischer) gives her husband (Owen Wilson) a pass to have sex with different people. Another couple does the same.

Jason Sudeikis co-stars as Wilson's friend, the other man with a pass. Variety did not confirm what role Amanda Bynes will be playing exactly. My guess is she's a chick one of the men want to hook up with.
