Movie Review: “Remember Me”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: March 13, 2010

The players: Director: Allen Coulter, Writer: Will Fetters, Cast: Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Chris Cooper, Pierce Brosnan, Tate Ellington

Facts of interest: Allen Coulter also helmed "Hollywoodland."

The plot: A young man who struggles with the death of his brother meets and falls for a young woman whose mother was murdered when she was a kid.

Our thoughts: Will I remember Allen Coulter’s tragic drama “Remember Me” in a week? Chances are I won’t, but believe it or not, it’s actually not Robert Pattinson’s fault. The guy who lacks bite in the “Twilight” flicks really manages to deliver a better performance here, but sadly enough, it’s the script he’s working with that doesn’t stick.

Robert Pattinson in 'Remember Me' trailer

Robert Pattinson stars in the upcoming Allen Coulter drama "Remember Me," and believe it or not, he's not playing a vampire. A trailer for the family drama has debuted online, and it follows after the jump.

The film was co-written by "Rachel Getting Married" scribe Jenny Lumet, and the trailer looks intense. It also doesn't look that bad, actually. Even Pattinson promises a warmer performance in the lead role.

He plays Tyler, a rebellious young man who has a strained relationship with his father (Pierce Brosnan) ever since tragedy separated their family. One day, he meets Ally (Emilie de Ravin) through a twist of fate.

Pierce Brosnan, Emilie de Ravin join 'Remember Me'

Pierce Brosnan in Married Life

Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Emilie de Ravin will join Robert Pattinson in Allen Coulter's upcoming drama "Remember Me," which is scheduled to shoot this month. Also in talks to join the project is Lena Olin, according to Variety. Written by Will Fetters (rewrite by Jenny Lumet), the film follows two individuals who meet and share their respective family tragedy.

Pattinson plays a man whose parents (Brosnan and Olin) split after this brother commits suicide. De Ravin ("Lost," "Public Enemies") is set to portray a woman who lives each day to the fullest after she witnesses the murder of her mother. Cooper, according to the trade, may play her dad.

Brosnan's credits include "Mamma Mia!," and some of his future projects include "The Ghost" and "Percy Jackson." As for Cooper, he will be seen in "New York, I Love You" and "The Tempest." Pattinson, of course, will lead "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" with Kristen Stewart.

Robert Pattinson may star in 'Memoirs' drama

"Twilight" star Robert Pattinson is attached to star in "Memoirs," a romance drama developed by Summit Entertainment.

According to Variety, the story follows a pair of lovers "who meet and fall in love while struggling to deal with family tragedies that threaten their relationship."

Will Fetters wrote the original script, but Jenny Lumet will revise. Lumet most recently wrote the fantastic Anne Hathaway vehicle "Rachel Getting Married."

The trade also says Allen Coulter, whose credits include "Hollywoodland," "The Sopranos" and "Sex and the City," is in talks to direct "Memoirs."

Pattinson certainly doesn't require an introduction, and he's set to return as Edward in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." His credits also include "Little Ashes" and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
