Ice Cube, Bow Wow win 'Lottery Ticket'

Ice Cube

Ice Cube and Bow Wow are teaming up for Alcon Entertainment's comedy "Lottery Ticket," which will mark the directorial debut of Erik White.

Written by Abdul Williams, the film follows a young man from the projects who's in for a rough weekend when his neighbors discover he's holding $350 million winning lottery ticket.

The Hollywood Reporter says Bow Wow slips into the lead role, with Cube playing a former boxer living in a basement in the projects.

Cube recently played a former football player in "The Longshots." He also recently signed on to star in the comedy "Ride Along." As for Bow Wow, the "Like Mike" star will soon be seen in "Hurricane Season."

Brad Furman to direct thriller ‘Valet’

Filmmaker Brad Furman is set to direct Alcon Entertainment’s upcoming thriller “Valet,” according to Variety.

Based on a script by Alan B. McElroy and rewritten by Matthew Aldrich, the film springs from the true story of a parking attendant who became obsessed with a female customer and literally penetrated into her life.

Furman’s directing credits include “The Take,” starring Tyrese Gibson and John Leguizamo. As for McElroy, he wrote films such as “Wrong Turn,” “Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever” and “The Marine.” Aldrich penned the screenplay for Renny Harlin’s “Cleaner.”

This pretty much sounds like a remake of Franck Khalfoun’s disappointing horror thriller “P2.” Where are the new, original ideas folks? We’ve seen all this too many times already.

‘Marvin the Martian’ to land on the big screen

Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment will team up to develop a big-screen version of “Looney Tunes” character Marvin the Martian, according to Variety.

Marvin was created by Chuck Jones and made his debut in “Haredevil Hare” in 1948. In several “Looney Tunes” episodes he has tried to destroy Earth, but his plans are consistently interrupted by Bugs Bunny. He also appeared as referee in 1996’s “Space Jam.”

According to the producers, the film will be a mix of live action and CGI. As far as the main story line is concerned, it will follow Marvin as he travels to Earth to destroy Christmas.

Considering the disappointing box office career of 2003’s “Looney Tunes: Back in Action,” I’m not so sure it’s a good idea to bring an animated Looney Tune back into the real world on the big screen. Okay, Marvin will be CGI, but still... What do you think?
