Adam Scott to star in 'My Mother’s Curse'

Adam Scott (“Step Brothers,” “Leap Year”) has been making me laugh ever since I stumbled across him on the severely underrated show “Party Down,” which, like every good show on television, got canceled after only a few seasons.

That’s why I’m delighted to report he’s been cast alongside Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand in the upcoming comedy, “My Mother’s Curse.” The film is directed by Anne Fletcher, whose credits include "The Proposal," "27 Dresses" and "Step Up."

"Curse" will focus on a young inventor who jumps in a car with his mother to make a cross-country trip, all the while attempting to push his products and reunite her with a previous lover. The Hollywood Reporter states that Lorne Michaels, John Goldwyn and Evan Goldberg will produce.

Megan Fox joins 'Friends with Kids'

Megan Fox is hot

Megan Fox will soon share the screen with Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig and Adam Scott, because the "Transformers" actress has joined Jennifer Westfeldt's upcoming comedy "Friends with Kids."

THR says the movie follows two best friends (Scott and Westfeldt) who see what having children has done to couples they know and consequently decide to have a kid and then date other people.

Wiig and Hamm will play another couple, and Fox will play a chick Scott's character begins to date. Fox, who starred in "Jonah Hex," has "Passion Play" coming soon. She also stars in "Wish Wizard."

Movie Review: "Piranha 3D"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: August 20, 2010

The players: Director: Alexandre Aja, Writers: Pete Goldfinger, Josh Stolberg, Cast: Steven R. McQueen, Jerry O'Connell, Kelly Brook, Elisabeth Shue

Facts of interest: Aja also helmed "The Hills Have Eyes."

The plot: Ruthless piranhas invade a lake taken over by college folks celebrating Spring Break. So yeah... hell breaks loose.

Our thoughts: Boobs! Boobs! They’re all over Alexandre Aja’s “Piranha 3D,” a mostly entertaining but still utterly moronic horror flick that features tons of weird CGI killer fish turning hot bodies into countless mutilated corpses. No, it’s not exactly a disastrous flick, but then again, it’s not a masterpiece either. It’s nothing but silly summer fun that does the job but could in fact be a whole lot better.

Pretty cool international 'Piranha 3-D' poster!

Foreign posters for American films often look a lot better than the domestic versions, and here's another one to prove my point: the French one-sheet for Alexandre Aja's upcoming horror remake "Piranha 3-D."

As you can see after the jump, it's got a very cool "Jaws" vibe to it, and it's easily better than the crappy North American poster. I've attached it below as well so you can compare and make up your own mind.

The ruthless CGI fish will start swimming straight into your face in theaters Aug. 20, 2010. Adam Scott, Elisabeth Shue, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss and Jerry O'Connell star.

Hungry 'Piranha 3D' poster debuts

A brand-new poster for Alexandre Aja's upcoming 3D horror flick "Piranha 3-D" has debuted online, and you can see it in full below. It's got sharp teeth, but that's it. In my book, it's a pretty boring poster.

Movie Review: “Leap Year”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: January 4, 2010

The players: Director: Anand Tucker, Writers: Deborah Kaplan, Harry Elfont, Cast: Amy Adams, Matthew Goode, Adam Scott, John Lithgow, Noel O'Donovan

Facts of interest: None.

The plot: A woman heads to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day, but when unexpected weather delays her plans, she asks a charming innkeeper to drive her to her final destination.

Our thoughts: Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first sucker of 2010: Anand Tucker’s overly predictable “Leap Year,” a dreadful romantic comedy that’s about as amusing as a soggy piece of toast. I generally enjoy watching both Amy Adams and Matthew Goode on the big screen, but in this train wreck, they sure look out of place.

'Leap Year' trailer shows entire movie

Amy Adams in Leap Year

I'm a huge fan of trailers, but it is quite alarming how many previews these days show us an entire film. Case in point: the new trailer for Anand Tucker's upcoming romantic comedy "Leap Year."

Indeed, this one already reveals all there is to reveal (unless the movie boasts a major twist we don't see here, which i doubt), and on top of that, it doesn't even look that exciting or funny.

In "Leap Year," Amy Adams stars as a young woman who travels to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend (Adam Scott) on leap day, Feb. 29. Tradition says men have to say yes on that day.
