Boom! Three-minute 'Expendables' trailer lands!

Sylvester Stallone is blowing up shit in his upcoming action spectacle "The Expendables," and a new three-minute trailer has landed on the Web. Check it out after the jump... it looks kind of amateurish.

Yes, it's full of explosions, shootings and terribly bad jokes, and while that can be an amusing combination here and there, it just doesn't work for me in this preview. I hope the film itself has a little more to offer.

Anyway, the movie follows a group of tough mercenaries who infiltrate a South American country to overthrow its dictator and free its population. Sly himself, Jet Li, Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke star.

Sly will hunt beast in 'Rambo V: The Savage Hunt'

Sylvester Stallone in Rambo

Big "Rambo V" news this morning, as it looks like we finally have some details about the film's official synopsis. Earlier reports of plot details were wrong, but it now looks Sylvester Stallone's Rambo will be battling a nasty beast in the new sequel.

So, here's what happened: Back when Nu Image/Millennium Films greenlit "Rambo V: The Savage Hunt," reports indicated the story would take Rambo to the U.S.-Mexico border to rescue a kidnapped girl. That information, however, was wrong.

Five new 'G.I. Joe' character posters debut on web

Are you still excited about Stephen Sommers' upcoming action flick "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra"?

No hard feelings if you don't, because to be honest, I'm not really sure how to feel about this project either.

Still, the film will open Aug. 7, 2009, and I've just come across a bunch of new character posters, which you can check out below.

The film focuses on a military unit’s quest to battle evil, and stars Channing Tatum, Ray Park, Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Marlon Wayans, Saïd Taghmaoui and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Feel free to share your thoughts about "Cobra" and these one-sheets below. Enjoy.

Another, better 'Transporter 3' clip hits!

Yesterday I posted a new clip from Olivier Megaton's upcoming "Transporter 3," and I complained about how identical the fight scene in it looks to a specific action scene in the first film. Although the action in the "Transporter" flicks goes a little too far at times for my taste, this new clip after the jump looks much better.

Sure, what you see below is probably just as ridiculous as many other sequences in the film, but I've never seen Jason Statham use a bike like this one to catch his car. I guess that's one of those new things I was hoping to see in this third installment. Now I hope there'll be more of that. "Transporter 3" opens Nov. 26, 2008.

Universal to develop skyscraper disaster flick

Universal Pictures picked up a pitch for an untitled disaster flick by screenwriter Mike Sobel, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The story is set in a mile-high skyscraper and follows a developer and a rescue crew who team up to save the building from collapsing.

The project is described as an action film in the style of “The Towering Inferno,” the 1974 Oscar-winning film directed by Irwin Allen and John Guillermin.

Sobel is also developing “Animals,” a horror movie in which all the world’s animals suddenly start attacking humans.

Final thought: This project sounds like a mix between “Ladder 49” and “World Trade Center” Could be interesting though if scripted well enough.

Brand-new 'Transporter 3' trailer debuts!

A brand-new trailer for Olivier Megaton's upcoming action spectacle "Transporter 3" has just debuted online. Jason Statham reprises his role as Frank Martin, the crazy transporter who goes after the world's most ruthless criminals. Robert Knepper, Natalya Rudakova and François Berléand star.

Corey Yuen's first "Transporter" pulled $25.2 million here in the U.S., while Louis Leterrier's sequel "Transporter 2" brought in $43 million. It will be interestning to see how this third installment matches up against its predecessor. I say it will easily top those amounts.

Now check out this explosive trailer just below. "Transporter 3" hits theaters Nov. 26, 2008. Enjoy.

Review: "Eagle Eye"

Seen on: September 26, 2008

The players: Director: D.J. Caruso, Writers: Daniel McDermott, Travis Adam Wright, John Glenn, Hillary Seitz, Cast: Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Anthony Azizi, Billy Bob Thornton

Facts of interest: Steven Spielberg served as executive producer on the film.

The plot: A slacker (LaBeouf) and a single mom (Monaghan) are framed as terrorists and forced to engage in a political assassination.

Our thoughts: Big bro. is watching like never before in D.J. Caruso’s “Eagle Eye,” a totally unrealistic but thoroughly entertaining thriller that delivers enough vibrant action to make you ignore most of the film’s obvious flaws.

Diesel, Cohen to return for ‘XXX’ sequel

Although “xXx: State of the Union” was a major disaster, Columbia Pictures thinks it’s time to make another “xXx” sequel and bring back Vin Diesel, according to Variety.

Yes, you read right. A third film about the extreme sports athlete recruited by the government is in early developmental stages, with Diesel and director Rob Cohen back in the game.

Cohen directed Diesel in the first film of the series in 2002, pulling in $106.2 million domestically. But they both refused to return for the 2005 sequel, which starred Ice Cube and totally crashed at the box office.

Although the third flick has no script yet, the working title is “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.” Plot details are unknown at this point.

Cohen most recently directed “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.” Diesel is currently onscreen in “Babylon A.D.” He will next be seen in Justin Lin’s “Fast & Furious.”

While I pretty much enjoyed the silliness of the first “xXx,” I’m not so sure this is such a great idea. I personally think Diesel agreed to return as Xander Cage because he desperately needs a hit. Oh well, we’ll see how it turns out.

What do you think? Should Xander Cage really return? Or couldn’t you care less? Sound off below.
