Sigourney Weaver goes from blue to blood sucker. The "Avatar" actress will star in Amy Heckerling's upcoming romantic horror comedy "Vamps," and according to Heat Vision, she will play a vampire queen. Okay then... Heckerling wrote the script, about two young vampires who are enjoying their nightlife until they get caught up with love and have to make a choice that could mess with their immortality and all.

Word is Weaver plays a character named Ciccerus, a nasty vamp who turned the two young blood lovers (played by Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter, by the way) into who they are now. Yes, all this sounds incredibly romantic. I guess Weaver's character will kick the chicks' butts and tell them love ain't too good for vamps. Or something along those lines. We'll see how it turns out.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.screeninglog.com/journal/2010/3/17/dwayne-johnson-in-faster-first-look.html"><rss:title>Dwayne Johnson in 'Faster' first look</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.screeninglog.com/journal/2010/3/17/dwayne-johnson-in-faster-first-look.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Billy Bob Thornton Carla Gugino Dwayne Johnson Faster George Tillman Jr. Stills</dc:subject>

Dwayne Johnson is taking a short break from making crappy kids flicks to get into the revenge thriller genre. He stars in George Tillman Jr.'s upcoming action movie "Faster," and the folks at USA Today released the fist official still from the movie. As you can see above, it shows The Rock in trouble. Don't worry, whatever it is, I am sure he finds a way to kick himself out of the mess.

About "Faster" then. The film follows a dude named Driver, an ex-con who heads out to avenge the death of his brother, who was murdered in a heist gone wrong years eariler. Joe and Tony Gayton wrote the screenplay. Co-starring are Billy Bob Thornton and Carla Gugino, who play cops trying to stop Johnson's character. "Faster" has a release date set for Nov. 19, 2010. Tillman Jr. also directed last year's "Notorious."

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.screeninglog.com/journal/2010/3/16/cool-hit-girl-to-star-in-martin-scorseses-next.html"><rss:title>Cool!
It looks like the cast for Martin Scorsese's upcoming film "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" is growing fast. Yesterday Deadline New York reported that Ben Kingsley and Sach Baron Cohen joined the big-screen adaptation of the Brian Selznick children's book, and today, Mike Fleming says Chloe Moretz (who stars as the super awesome Hit Girl in "Kick-Ass") and Asa Butterfield have been cast as the kids in the movie. On the international circuit, the film took an estimated $76 million this weekend, and its foreign cume now stands at a superb $221 million.

Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" is doing just fine as well internationally, scoring another $19.2 million in 43 territories.
Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” continued its North American box office reign this weekend with a stunning three-day gross of $62 million in ticket sales at 3,728 locations, according to studio estimates Sunday. Domestically, “Alice” has now grossed $208.6 million in a little more than one week.

New entry “Green Zone,” Paul Greengrass’ explosive war thriller starring Matt Damon, debuted in second place with $14.5 million. Playing at 3,003 locations, the film scored an average of $4,840 per theater. Damon plays a U.S. soldier who starts doubting the existence of the Iraqi WMDs program.

Following at No. 3 this weekend was Jim Field Smith’s charming comedy “She’s Out of My League,” which bagged $9.6 million from ticket sales at 2,956 sites.
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson’s new film “Remember Me” finished fourth on the chart, earning $8.3 million.
