'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' hits $700 million

While the fourth chapter in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series may have suffered the scorn of many critics, it isn't suffering at the worldwide box office. Only 16 days after its release, the film has managed to set an industry record for speed for passing the $700 million mark. According to The Hollywood Reporter, much of this can be attributed to the thriving 3D market in countries such as Russia and China. As of right now, it is the top grossing film of the year at the global box office.
