James Mangold to direct 'Wolverine' sequel

Who knew "The Wolverine" would ever find a director? While no deal is in place quite yet, it finally looks like 20th Century Fox is about to start negotiations with one man: James Mangold. That's right, the "Walk the Line" director may end up helming the action sequel.
Deadline says Jackman welcomes the idea of Mangold helming the sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" very much. Christopher McQuarrie wrote the script, and word is the film will start shooting soon. The story will primarily take place in Japan.
Mangold also directed the recent action comedy "Knight and Day," the solid Western "3:10 to Yuma" and "Identity." Darren Aronofsky was supposed to direct "The Wolverine," but he dropped out, leaving Fox with a tough choice on who to hire for the job.
