'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' takes $35M Friday

Rob Marshall's "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is already doing pretty well at the worldwide box office, but domestically, the fourth installment in the series only bagged $35 million Friday. Not bad either, but it's not up there with the performance of its predecessor.
Now, "On Stranger Tides" generated $4.7 million from midnight screenings. On Friday, it managed to grab the $35 million from screenings at 4,155 theaters. Right now, it looks like the flick starring Johnny Depp will earn $89 million total this weekend. Okay, it could be worse, I guess.
Still doing pretty fine is "Bridesmaids," which picked up $6.3 million Friday in second place. "Thor" followed at third place with $4.2 million. "Fast Five" earned $3.1 million at No. 4, and "Priest" followed with $1.4 million at No. 5. Captain Jack truly is dominating this weekend.
