Box Office: 'Gnomeo' takes over No. 1 spot

None of the two major releases this past week managed to claim box office glory in North America, as "Gnomeo and Juliet" jumped to the top with $14.2 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday. The animated family film lifted its total gross to $75.1 million after three weeks in release.
New entry "Hall Pass" with Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis debuted at No. 2, earning a weak $13.4 million from 2,950 sites. The Warner Bros. release directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly ("There's Something About Mary") scored an average of $4,549 per theater.
Also opening this weekend was Patrick Lussier's new action flick "Drive Angry 3D," which despite showing at 2,290 sites, picked up a disappointing $5.1 million at ninth place. Starring Nicolas Cage, the flick follows a badass who goes after the people who killed his daughter and took his granddaughter.
Meanwhile, Liam Neeson's fast-paced thriller "Unknown" dropped to third place this weekend, bagging $12.4 million for a cume of $42.8 million. Following at No. 4 was Adam Sandler's "Just Go With It," which generated $11.1 million for a cumulative gross of $79.3 million.
At No. 5, DJ Caruso's sci-fi flick "I Am Number Four" collected a weekend gross of $11 million, reaching a total haul of $37.7 million. "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" followed in sixth place, pulling in $9.2 million for a domestic gross of $62.7 million.
Staying put at No. 7 was "The King's Speech," which bagged $7.6 million for a total of $114.5 million. At No. 8, "Big Mommas Like Father Like Son" lifted its cumulative gross to $28/5 million after weekend earnings of $7.5 million. Wrapping up the top 10 was "The Roommate" with $2 million ($35.9 million total).
